July Ratings and Detroit/ SE Michigan Classic Hits and Classic Rock

Post by Greg Buben » Sat Aug 13, 2022 12:35 pm

WOMC is number one with their classic hits format of pop hits from the 70's and 80's. WOMC had a 8.0% share. I noticed
before the ratings for July came out there were posts regarding their lack of Alice Cooper airplay. I think they should play
more Alice Cooper (except "Schools Out") as well as get deeper into other Detroit/ SE Michigan artists with hits from the
70's and 80's although Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever" may be too heavy metal for WOMC.
WCSX is number two with its Classic Rock format and they had a 7.3% share. With WCSX as a Classic Rock station and
the best of the two classic rockers should play deeper cuts from all of the Detroit/ SE Michigan artists going back to the
late 60's and upto the 90's. I think that going deeper than corporate playlists on the historical local music would give a
wonderful flavor to both of these two most popular radio stations in the Detroit market.

I do agree with you Greg, 100 percent. If Seger is played on WOMC, Alice Cooper should be played as well. Tim Roberts is a moron and truly cannot program any of the Audacy stations in Detroit correctly. Listen to other Classic Hits stations across the country and there is a big difference in playlists, most are definitely larger playlist. I honestly think Roberts is not calling the shots at WOMC, I do believe the playlist are coming from the corporate office.

That "moron" has a classic hits station with great ratings and a country station with good ratings. Perhaps he knows more than you with regard to what works and what doesn't work.

I don't see much of a difference in playlist size between WOMC and most other top 50 market Classic Hits stations I've heard. I will say WGRR in Cincinnati is a recent exception.

Key demo ranks:
Phenomenal book for WRIF (as usual), phenomenal book for WJLB, and darn good book for The Bounce, WXYT and WCSX.

Softer than usual book for WKQI but certainly not bad.

WOMC is not a classic rock station and they're not going to play those 70s Alice Cooper songs. We told you this last week

Geez these are great ratings.
We go from 8.0 in first place, to 5.9 at WNIC in third place

Crust bucket butt rock. I'm stealing this.

As for the ratings, it's like I always say...

Fuck you WLLZ. Your revised strategy of being content as WCSX's annoying little brother is working; youre safely in the 3.0 zone. Congrats on giving Detroit more of what it didnt need.

They win the battle, but they lose the war. I realize most people under 45/50 don't listen to the radio, but it seems like it is even more the case for Detroit radio.

They/them, non-binary and proud.

The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.
