Post by jimform2k1 » Sat Apr 09, 2022 9:03 am

Hello,

Has any Detroit area HD station ever had a HD4 subchannel?

Thanks

Jim

I presume you are referring to FM radio?

If so, I'm unaware of any HD4 stations ever existing. The highest I've seen is HD3.

The number of HD Radio "hidden stations" in Detroit has plummeted over the past year or two. iHM has eliminated nearly all of theirs locally.

They don't even sell AM HD radios anymore. Maybe some vehicles come with it, but no more portables.

Can't think of any in Michigan that ever had HD4. I've heard a few out of state with HD4's:
88.3 WPOZ Orlando, FL
88.5 WMNF Tampa, FL
89.9 WJCT Jacksonville, FL
90.9 WJKV Jacksonville, FL
93.5 WARQ Columbia, SC
95.3 WALV Ooltewah, TN
96.1 WWPW Atlanta, GA
97.1 WLVU Belle Meade, TN
97.1 WSRV Gainesville, GA
98.3 WWRZ Fort Meade, FL

There are still quite a few HD3's in Detroit, such as 94.7 WCSX, 97.1 WXYT, 98.7 WDZH, 99.5 WYCD, 101.1 WRIF, 103.5 WMUZ, and 104.3 WOMC

89.7 WKSU and its rebroadcasters had four HD channels last I checked. The side channels are/were:
HD2 Folk Alley
HD3 All Classical
HD4 All News/Talk

That may have changed now that Ideastream has taken over operations and WKSU has gone 100% news/talk with the music moving to 90.3 (now WCLV) on a full time basis.

Nearby, 91.3 WAPS in Akron also has four HD channels. The side channels are:
HD2 The 330 (local artists)
HD3 KidJam Radio
HD4 Rock & Recovery
