WJR's Ken Rogulski has accepted the News Director position at WHMI. Ken is a professional broadcaster, a Detroit area native, who also worked many years as an OM/PD in Houston, prior to returning to Michigan. I was privileged to work with Ken during my brief tenure in the Fisher Building, and I am certain his talents will be appreciated at WHMI.
As for WJR, Ken was probably tired of being relegated to doing traffic reports. I know I would be.

He is an excellent broadcaster; great hire for WHMI. He will be missed on Detroit's airwaves.
Paul Woods reminds me a bit of the Swedish Chef from the Muppets when he speaks!

I miss local the news on WJR. I think removing it hurt their ratings. Ken did a great job until news was dropped. I wish WHMI had a stronger signal in metro Detroit.

Ken did some morning national hour for some Cumulus stations. I heard him in Macon, GA last October.

Maybe you should listen to the real story. King was becoming far too biased for a newsman. It would have been fine as a commentator. Sadly too many newsmen let their political leanings blur their reporting.

I’m glad he found a new gig. It was embarrassing listening to him do traffic updates. Let me change that - it’s insulting that ‘JR deflated a great newsman to a traffic reporter. I will now try to turn into WHMI to hear the news!

Listened all the time. I found Jon King to be an excellent journalist. What specifically in his reporting was objectionable? We no longer listen to WHMI at our office or advertise there any more because of all the changes. We want an unbiased local station with local people.
