WJR On- and Off-Air Changes

Post by IIN4MU » Fri Dec 17, 2021 5:55 am

The once-Great Voice of the Great Lakes is shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. Among the more interesting moves are the addition of Sean Baligian (?!?!) to the morning show, the survival of cockroaches Harper and Courtney, and adding Fox News Radio as the network news provider. J.P. has to be spinning...

Not sure JP is spinning on any of this but the time when WJR was the top-dog has gone the way of many of the terrestrial wave riders.
Tom Jordan had big shoes to fill at WWj and seemed to make it work.
Jim Harper…. A longtime favorite of Detroit mornings needs the rest of his group to make it work but they’ve all gone elsewhere.
I thought going from radio to tv was the “upgrade” but has that trend now changed?

Random thoughts for a Friday morning ;-)

Other than a sports broadcast I doubt I've listened to 10 minutes of WJR in 10 years.
Once upon a time decades ago I listened hours a day.
I might tune in for 5 minutes just to hear Sean and PW. Is that underway now?

None of these changes compel me to want to listen to the station.

Why in the world is Sean on WJR instead of 97.1? I'd love to hear Baligian take over for Caputo on 97.1 on the night time show and get some weekend and fill hosting duties.

I still do not understand the reasoning behind WJR's decision to eliminate local news. It makes no sense.

WJR is on life support. Nothing like it used to be.

I like Sean Baligan, but isn’t that a slap in the face to Paul W?

I think their target demo is 55+.

They/them, non-binary and proud.

The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.

Yeah, pretty much. They'll say 35+ or 45+, but in reality, the majority of their audience at any given time is over age 60.

If it weren't for WWJ, I would certainly have zero use for it.
