Audacy ends "2 Minute Promise"

Post by ChrisWL1980 » Fri Nov 19, 2021 7:43 pm

Audacy has jettisoned the "2 Minute Promise" gimmick it originated at KNDD and extended to all of its so-called Alternative stations. This means fewer but longer commercial breaks to interrupt the Billie Eilish/Kid Laroi/Blackbear parade.
Personally I've thought the best Fault 98-7 has sounded recently was when it was broadcasting dead air. :rollin

The playlist has gotten really wimpy again. Nine Days' "Story of a Girl" is playing as I type this. Barf x 1000!!!!

Tim Roberts has zero fucking clue how to program this station properly.

Most of the heavier gold tracks added 30 to 45 days back have vanished.

I can almost guarantee, Tim Roberts has no hand in this.

It’s time to flip 98.7 to Christmas and come out with a different format on December 26th.

Speaking of 98.7… I was in Detroit yesterday for a concert with the wife and flipping through the stations I landed on 98.7 for a little bit, noticing that one of their RDS displays is still showing 98.7 AMP RADIO which has it been around for about 3 years now.
Ford recently just came out with the sync 3.0 so at the moment my vehicle is running the latest software, could it still be my car radio?

It's the radio station.

I have Sync 3.0. At random times, my RDS shows exactly the same thing.

It's obvious 98.7 is the red headed stepchild among Odd-to-see's local FM stations.

Thanks! As much as I would like to see 98.7 AMP come back, which I know it won’t happen. Audacy really doesn’t care about 98.7, kind of curious to how long this alternative format will remain on that station.

I would love 98.7 to become "Jack FM 98.7".

Wouldn’t be opposed to Jack FM but I don’t wanna see another boring played out classic rock type of that format. Late 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s with Top 40’s hits including Rock, Pop, Dance, R&B and friendly Hip Hop would be perfect.

I noticed your location as Dayton, are there any Jack formatted stations in the Dayton or Cincinnati areas? Just curious.

Yes in Dayton we have 92.9 Jack FM kind of similar to the old 93.1 Doug FM Detroit. Doug FM’s playlist was organized better than Jack FM’s. One day I heard Notorious B.I.G. straight into The Rolling Stones and I thought to myself… ouch! Yes they do claim to play everything but ease us in from one song to another, that’s probably why the ratings are crap, Dayton doesn’t particular care for that too much specially with the mature crowd.

MIX 94.9 in Cincinnati provides a fairly strong signal into Dayton.
(Not exactly a variety hits but close) Playlist wise decent could be better. Occasional 70’s, Very heavy on the 80’s pop hits, could use more 90’s, not bad on the 2k and then drops off about 5 to 10 years ago to avoid competing with it’s sister WKRQ Q102.
WDZH 98.7 should try something like this or 93.1, I’m still holding out hope that WDRQ will make a come back one of these days.

Columbus has few also if your interested 93.3 The Bus, Rewind 103.5/104.3, 103.9 Jack FM. However these stations are not receivable in my area except for 93.3 when Cincinnati doesn’t get in the way and the atmosphere is being generous.

I'm not sure 98.7 would go variety hits with WOMC in the cluster. Unless, of course, they took OMC in a more rock direction. Or perhaps 90s. One or the other.

I’m familiar with “The Eagle 95.3”/101.1 The 80’s station from Dayton. Great station.

Not sure if I would count that one as a variety hits but every now and then The Eagle throws in a really good 90’s song. The Eagle is Kinda like WOMC.
