W30EX-D

Post by mtburb » Sat Sep 25, 2021 6:25 pm

A while back this station, RF channel 29, popped up on RabbitEars.info's TV market listings for Detroit. It's licensed to Lima, Ohio...but when browsing W30EX-D's technical info, its transmitter is currently located at Gady Road and Green Highway in Lenawee County, halfway between Adrian and Tecumseh, with its signal favoring Adrian and places southward.

However, it also has a pending application to move its transmitter to Pontiac Trail and Joy Road just north of Ann Arbor, and with it a power increase that gives it a good signal as far out as Taylor and Dearborn Heights and moderate ones as far as both downtown Detroit and downtown Windsor, and at least a poor signal as far as Warren, the Grosse Pointes and almost to Leamington.

RabbitEars doesn't list any affiliation for W30EX-D, so it's possible this station may have been moved into the Detroit market to provide some subchannels that other stations have no room for. Could we see channels like Rewind TV and Me TV+ end up as subchannels of W30EX-D?

I wonder if that could become a companion station for WADL, which is soon going to be the MNTV affiliate for the Detroit market.

Notification of Suspension of Operations and Request for Special Temporary Authority
Lowcountry 34 Media, LLC (“Lowcountry”), licensee of low-power television station W30EX-D, Lima, Ohio (Facility ID No. 187441) (“W30EX-D”), hereby notifies the Commission that W30EX-D went silent on August 3, 2021 to conserve financial resources while Lowcountry continues to build out its broadcast network. Lowcountry anticipates that W30EX-D will need to remain silent for a short time as W30EX-D’s engineer is currently out of state and will need to return to the station’s transmitter site to re-commence operations. However, out of an abundance of caution, Lowcountry hereby requests Special Temporary Authority for W30EX-D to remain silent for up to 180 days until Lowcountry can resume operations with the station.

W30EX-D is one of numerous stations that Lowcountry 34 will be forced to relinquish after receiving a $250,000 fine.

Wonder if this group is related to Roy Henderson, maybe a cousin.

I live in Warren, and I definitely haven’t picked that up with my digital rabbit ears.

I can't get it in on my analog rabbit ears either.

Can someone use it as their ATSC 3.0 and keep their current HDTV operation so they have overlap with the two technologies, or is there a market limit like radio that would prevent this?

The callsign is now DW30EX-D, meaning the license was cancelled.

Maybe 24 hr infomercials, via "Around the Corner TV," or Muslim TV or TBN? Who will be the owner?

The license was cancelled. It will never sign on.
