Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?

Everybody knows Ahmad is good, but Rachelle is/was seriously underrated and didn’t deserved to get kicked by Sinclair. I’m very happy to see her getting back in the game.

She appears pretty easy on the eyes, too. Just sayin'.
Going from the last place station in Flint / Tri-Cities to a network O&O station in a top 15 market is a major upgrade.

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

Oh yes. She was a great way to wake up in the morning up in the Tri City market. She was a damn good anchor that SBC stupidly downsized. She recently married a cop.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 7:01 pmShe appears pretty easy on the eyes, too. Just sayin'.

Are we going to see any familiar, local faces pop up on 62 CBS that have been laid off or left broadcasting over the past few years? Ben Bailey, Christy McDonald, Kevin Deitz, Scott Lewis type of hires?

Maybe not.MrTaterSalad wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 9:26 amAre we going to see any familiar, local faces pop up on 62 CBS that have been laid off or left broadcasting over the past few years? Ben Bailey, Christy McDonald, Kevin Deitz, Scott Lewis type of hires?
What do the personnel announced so far have in common?

No. Those folks cost money. Aside from the main anchors, all reporters are gonna be low paid MMJ’s. They did make an early run at a former investigative reporter (now back in the market), but couldnt even come close to paying him.

The Now newscast (gee, where have I heard that name used on a newscast before?) judging from the article you linked appears to be a rebrand of the existing low budget 10PM newscast.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.
I am so confused...
So Detroit News Now will be on WKBD? Will they have two to three broadcasts a day or will they be on a subchannel full time?
And CBS 62 will also have a news broadcast? Will that be on a subchannel or what. Why would CBS local news be on two different stations?

I miss the days when 50 had a real newscast. Not the biggest budget but solid anchors and Jim Madaus doing weather. When 2 went FOX and started the 10PM news it slowly killed them.

Yes CBS62 will have a full news broadcast.
Read more about it, here.

Sounds like a broadcast version of "Patch"The embedding approach involves giving geographical beats to reporters instead of sending them on various assignments across southeast Michigan....
"They're able to shoot, write, edit, report and package up their own pieces, instead of having to have several people involved in the creation of content. Everybody is going to be a utility player," said Watson.

The 10 O'Clock News on WKBD around 1990 and into the early 90's was an excellent newscast. Even the opening music was sensational.I miss the days when 50 had a real newscast. Not the biggest budget but solid anchors and Jim Madaus doing weather. When 2 went FOX and started the 10PM news it slowly killed them.
By 1997 or 1998, wheels started to slowly fall off.
By 2000, it was a downright poor product.
