CBC Radio cancels Randy Bachman's Vinyl Tap

Post by n8fnr » Mon Jul 05, 2021 2:39 pm

After 13 years on Radio 2 the CBC has canceled Randy Bachman's Vinyl Tap. The hell? This was easily one of the best music shows ever. Loved hearing Randy's stories but sadly as of 7/1/2021 the show is no longer being produced.

I listen to it regularly on CBE-FM on 89.9 mhz out of Windsor.

"CBC Music’s senior director Steve Jordan said the broadcaster regularly reviews its programming lineup to “make room for new voices and genres.” “As part of planning for the upcoming year, it was decided that this will be the final season of Vinyl Tap,” Jordan added in a statement. The show will run in repeats over the summer. There’s no word yet on what will replace it.

Translation: We want a music show with diversity, not a old white guy who was popular in the late 60's thru the mid 70's...Everything media in Canada is all about diversity, have you watched "Hockey Night In Canada", Ron McLean and a few other white guys are all that's left of the pre/post and intermission segments...if Canada had it their way, the NHL would be 50% women players...

I’m 37 and I enjoyed this show. I found it interesting and I enjoyed the music. I listened to part of it yesterday. I will miss it.

Randy and his son Tal host a show on The Beatles Channel / SiriusXM 18 called "Musical Mystery Tour", with various airings during the week.
