As a middle of the road moderate I couldn't handle his extremest politics. I won't miss him because I tuned out 15-20 years ago.

My God...has Rod Meloni gotten to look old. As far as Beckmann....good riddance. What an ego!!! As a homer...he'll never be anywhere close to Bob Ufer.

"In New Town, Rod Meloni, Local 4." WTF? You'd think that after over 20 years in Detroit he'd know that it's NEW CENTER...plus Frank started out in the news department, not as a sportscaster, but that's forgiveable.

While I never liked Frank's midday show, in reality, he was about as "extremist" as Jeb Bush or John Engler.

You're probably "triggered" by Guy Gordon too. :lol

If you took some Introductory Psychology courses, hopefully just to fill your college's distribution requirements for graduation and not as a major, you were likely exposed to some form of "Behavior Modification" section in the courses. You will recognize that demonization of your opponents by labeling them much more extreme than they are is part of the programming of the people around you to discourage any discussion of opposition. Supposedly, this will bring you around to their side. It may work for some naive people for a while, but when they see what is REALLY going on, and what REALLY happened all last year, they will soon see the truth and oppose it. Not to be sexist, but women are more susceptible to this than men are, and that is why the Left and their Corporatist friends on the so called Right hate men and want to caponize them all (metaphorically, at least for now).

Labelling Frank Beckman and Guy Gordon extremists is one of the most ridiculous examples of an attempt at behavior modification that I have ever heard.

I had the same reaction hearing him tag out the story on the newscast. "New Town" ???
New Center, which for decades has had its unique identity, seems to have gotten assimilated into the whole north-of-downtown "Midtown" theme. Meloni may have (hopefully) accidentally just merged the two terms.

As I said I mostly tuned out years ago so maybe he mellowed. But I remember in 2008 him invoking Adolph Hitler while talking about Barrack Obama as a potential president. Around the same time he said global warming was an international socialist conspiracy.
That was extremist enough for me to give up.
Doing the math I guess it was more like 12-13 years ago.

I used to listen to him about that time when out on the road for work. He got way too conservative in his ramblings and seemed out of touch with the middle class that embodies Detroit and Michigan. I stopped listening and never tuned in again as I couldn’t stand him anymore.

I'll believe in STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT ANTHROPOGENIC GLOBAL WARMING/CLIMATE CHANGE when China and other "developing" countries are held to the same restrictions the US is. In other words, WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER, because China and other countries being held to any similar restrictions and standards is just about as likely.

I did not refer to Frank as an extremist. Craig did, and it's patently absurd. To borrow a line from Michael Savage, another cancelled host, Frank is more of a "liberal Republican Bushie" the old "kinder, gentler, America" baloney. The yelling from the callers was getting louder and more frequent. When Chris Renwick would fill in, there was at least some well thought out, intelligent discourse. It didn't even sound like the same show.

I was being facetious about Guy Gordon. He rarely has a firm opinion about anything. Agree with you 100% on the folly of Global Warming...but let's stick to the topic of wishy washy talk show hosts.

Michael Savage got to be bitter about his career in radio before the end of his show. It seemed that he was most bitter that Rush Limbaugh, a High School Graduate, was so much more successful than he was with two Ph.D.'s. Most people don't remember that Michael Savage's radio career took off when other talk show hosts were accused of being uneducated Anti Semitic White Supremacists. It would have been ridiculous to assert that Savage, being Jewish and having a Ph.D., was Anti Semitic and uneducated. So he seemed a natural to take over from other hosts. Limbaugh's friendship with Benjamin Netanyahu and support of Israel avoided accusations that Rush was anti Semitic. The final straw for Savage was when he started ragging on his fill in hosts on the air for having the nerve to support and express respect for Rush Limbaugh when he was dying of lung cancer.

I was referring to Craig's comments, not yours, Colonel Flagg.

Any guesses as to who takes the 9-12 spot?

I was thinking either M.L. Elrick or Charlie LeDuff.
