Re: 10”?
If that is indeed true - there was considerable blowing and drifting overnight so measurements from spot to spot may vary considerably - then perhaps my forecast for Metro Detroit was almost right on the money.
I'll be snow blowing shortly; will provide an update after I return inside.

Re: 10”?
Just went outside to measure in an area without a drift. Our plow guy came by yesterday around 5 PM and there was about 2 inches of snow then. Just measured in an even area of my driveway that didn't have a lot of drifts, and it was just over 6 inches. So, I am calling it slightly above 8" total and still snowing here. With the drifts, it is around 11".

The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Just returned inside from snowblowing.
Total accumulation since Sunday here: 7 inches. Total since 6PM yesterday: 5 inches to maybe 5.5. Total on the ground: 10.

Re: 10”?
NWS map has been updated with multiple new reports.
5.5 to 8 inches is common for Metro Detroit.
Heaviest totals are along and west of US 23 back to the 127 corridor. Nearly everyone got that wrong, myself included, although NWS GRR wasn't too far off the mark. Widespread 7 to 9 inch totals out that way. One observation near Flint - might be the airport - reported 9.5 inches.
So, for Metro Detroit, I give my forecast an "A."
For mid-Michigan, a C- at best.

Re: 10”?
It's pretty hard to nail the smaller mesoscale features, such as the dry air wedge that kept mixing in on the east side of Metro Detroit, until the event unfolds in real-time. That certainly limited totals in the city of Detroit. Places west of town stayed solidly within the precip shield for a longer period of time and ended up with decent totals. The storm tracked quite a bit farther west than models were hinting.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 8:42 amNWS map has been updated with multiple new reports.

The high reflectivity returns you were seeing around Cleveland was some mixed precip, which is why the overall snow totals are lower than expected. However, places near Toledo did see a foot.
The big winners were near Lake Huron where the 10-15" of snow totals were reported.
Good job on the forecast. Snow forecasts are quote challenging!
I'm here for a good, hearty debate, to agree and disagree respectfully, and commiserate on the current state of terrestrial radio.

Indeed, the totals were much lower in Cleveland than I (and everyone else) was anticipating! Busted forecast for sure. The water content of that snow was likely quite high, to Jaded's point.
I did see some 9 to 12 inch totals near Toledo and Norwalk, so that at least performed as expected.
Grand prize winner for SE Michigan appears to be Marysville! 15.5 inches. I believe they got trapped beneath a lake effect band during the day yesterday.
Other areas:
- Dayton, OH: 5 to 9 inches (pretty close to expectation)
- Cincinnati: 3 to 5 inches (another bust)
- Lima / Sidney / Piqua, OH: 8 to 11 inches (on the money)
- Lansing / Jackson / Battle Creek: 7 to 9 inches
- Owosso: 7 inches (I predicted 4 to 7)
- Saginaw: 4 to 5 inches (about what I was thinking)
Totals dropped off quickly west of I-75 and near & north of M-57. I thought that line was maybe going to be 20 miles farther southeast.
