SCA Detroit stations

Post by Art Van Damme » Thu Jun 25, 2020 10:32 am

Just curious:

Is any station in Metro Detroit still broadcasting content using SCA subcarriers?

I can’t recall if WDET used to have Radio Talking Book services back in the day.

Don’t have a receiver to check.

Last I remember there was some telemetry still on SCA.

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

I volunteered at DRIS in the late 1980s. It's still around.

I had some back and forth with the WDET station manager today (3/24/2021) about HD Radio and she brought up that WDET uses SCA for their Detroit Radio Information Service. Are there any other stations in SE MI that use SCA?

BTW here is the WDET SCA DRIS schedule; https://wdet.org/media/wdet/assets/2019 ... e_2019.pdf

In the late 1980s, I had an AM car radio, and an "FM Converter" (more accurately an FM receiver/AM modulator)

I could hear SCA content at 1333kHz or 1467kHz through it.
