Where is the young anchor, Katie Johnston, from? I thought she did a very good job on their 1st newscast.

Well, that explains why you have no clue about the improvements she's made over the last ten years!!!Rate This wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 10:29 pmWho did they wrangle in to be their MMJ?
It’s definitely bad but I have to say... Karen Carter makes Hank Winchester’s lisp look like the queens English... I hadn’t bothered to see the 11pm weather hit since Maddus retired. Everu S is a TH... Yikes.
It says 10-11pm on my guide but at 1028 it appears to be over...
Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
It also means I don’t care about whatever improvements she’s made in the last x years (Maddus really didn’t retire that long ago and you’ll really forgive me for not paying attention to who did the weekend version of something I saw a couple times a year)... I don’t hate the woman or something, merely commenting that her speech isn’t very good.km1125 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 2:58 pmWell, that explains why you have no clue about the improvements she's made over the last ten years!!!Rate This wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 10:29 pmWho did they wrangle in to be their MMJ?

Then at least say "back when I watched her" when you're describing her speech, because things change. Have you driven a Ford since they stopped making the Model T?? Do they ride any better?Rate This wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 3:33 pmIt also means I don’t care about whatever improvements she’s made in the last x years (Maddus really didn’t retire that long ago and you’ll really forgive me for not paying attention to who did the weekend version of something I saw a couple times a year)... If I haven’t ever seen her then how can I say “back when I watched her”? Reading is fundamental... I’ve heard the name and nothing more.km1125 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 12:22 pmThen at least say "back when I watched her" when you're describing her speech, because things change. Makes no sense to me -- usually when there's only a half-hour newscast, they would put a sitcom on at 10:30, then save the repeat for late night.

Did see a Bloomburg ad so it is getting a dollar or two from its intended target...

I still have yet to watch either 50 or 38 at 10PM weeknights. I keep forgetting! LOL
Will make a concerted effort to do so Monday night.

Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
I finally saw CW 50's so-called newscast Monday Night.
It's bad. No name anchor from Dallas stands in front of chroma key well and reads stories as footage video plays. A few locally produced pre-recorded stories shot in the field are part of the package. Karen Carter's weathercast is inserted coming out of a commercial break. There's an entertainment report, too. Not sure what else.
With the exception of the weathercast, everything appears to be pre-recorded.
It's the TV news equivalent of voicetracking.

Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
I hear all the time that there just isn't the ratings and revenue share in Detroit for a fourth news station. If they actually spent real money and tried to bring in a local news team, lets say for argument sake people like Emery King, Christy McDonald, Ron Lewis, Kevin Deitz, Chuck Gadica, etc. and advertised the product would it really do any better?
Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
Better, yes. Good ratings? Probably not, at least for years. It takes time to build a news audience.MrTaterSalad wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 10:52 amI hear all the time that there just isn't the ratings and revenue share in Detroit for a fourth news station.
