Crain’s Detroit is reporting (behind their ever-present paywall, of course) that the building that houses Amore da Roma (formerly Roma Cafe) is for sale. Not sure what that means for the future of the restaurant…Many of us will remember their run as an advertiser on SportsTalk, probably 2-3 years ago. I even think “Chef Guy” did an in-studio spot with Ron, to discuss their offerings.

His ads for that restaurant provided some entertaining moments.

The Amore da Roma ad made Ron very hungry. "They're good people, the food is excellent. I'm probably going there for dinner tomorrow, the Monday Italian buffet [even though "tomorrow" was Sunday]. There's a whole bunch of things to choose from but I always get the spaghetti and meatballs, and I'm not a meatball fan, but I love that with that. I put that with the veal parm, and usually a piece of chicken, sometimes they have meatloaf, sometimes other things, get some vegetables with that, soup, make sure I don't eat most of the day." Then Ron wanders off into some out-loud thinking as he tries to plan his Monday to make his appetite peak at dinner time—a small breakfast, then maybe work through lunch with some of his never-ending business meetings.
All along the icy wastes, there are faces smiling in the gloom.

Curiosity had me going back to the first pages of this thread and I had to laugh at the real time comments regarding the January 4, 2020 broadcast from Louie's Pizza. That transmission is in my mind a legendary cavalcade of incompetence. What did surprise me was coverage of a show on January 5, 2020. I thought that the January 4th event was Ron's last encounter with WDTK until his return a few years later, apparently I was wrong.

Momo / Bobbert / Fellow Buzzboarders -

I have really enjoyed your input on this site over time. Now with Ron departed I just wanted to throw this out if at all
interested. If you are so inclined in getting together to talk Ron memories, sports in general, or whatever in between I am
often at Hermann's Olde Towne Grill and Pub in Plymouth mid afternoonish on weekdays. Just ask the bartender for Rob and I conceivably will be in attendance. Cheers.
Rob, I sent you a private message about this.
Momo; I checked my private message inbox and do not see anything. I just sent you a private message response and submitted it and I do see it in my outbox. Thanks, Rob
Let me know if you got any of my responses. They show up in my outbox, but not in my sent box, as I was expecting.
Momo - I do not see any of your private messages. And now I see nothing in my outbox or sent box showing my response to you yesterday so I have no idea what is going on.
It's a mystery to me, too. I'm pretty available the rest of the week. 1:00ish works best for me. If you're also flexible, why don't you propose some alternative days so the others who are interested can weigh in with their preferences.
Momo - just saw your message for the first time and responded to it. Thursday or Friday should work.
Okay. Let's wait & see if the others interested in meeting up have a preference.
Unless I hear otherwise from those who expressed an interest in meeting up with both Rob & me, we're getting together Friday at around 1:00. I'll bring my July '23 Yellow Pages as a conversation piece.

1pm on a Friday sounds perfect for remembering the WPON era Ron Cameron. I'll be there!

Is a bar actually going to allow you guys to have a circle jerk on its premises?

Because prior results reinforced his then-views - no doubt petty - Ron, of course, always treated this as some expert panel ranking rather than that what it is, a People's Choice sorta thing. Recognizing it for what it was would've been awkward for Ron since he had such obvious disdain for Detroit sports fans (for not appreciating his greatness).

I was planning on joining the gathering of the RC fan club today, but as luck would have it, I have been called upon at the last minute to help out with a neighborhood project that has popped up. Hopefully there will be another get together before too long. Have fun everyone.

Thank you gentlemen. It was great to bond and discuss the one and only Ron Cameron. We will need to do it again.
