Ron kept stacks of newspapers in his closet, yet, holding on to a phone number for more than a day was too tough of a task.
Probably unsold copies of Sports Fan Journal.
My thought too. And maybe a few USA Today sports sections.

Bob Page and Martin are going back and forth on x about the city of Warren not releasing Ron's remains until they can locate a relative.
Also, Page is talking about someone starting a gofundme so Ron doesn't end up in a potters' field.
Maybe Hollywood director James Cameron can step up and assist.

I heard Page as a call-in guest on Ron's old AM 1310 show about 20 years ago.

Page spent much of the interview making wise cracks at Ron's expense, repeatedly mentioning how almost no one was listening to the show. It was actually a rather amusing segment!

The tweets from Bob exude a personality similar to the one I remember hearing on the air two decades ago. 😁
I have to believe Bob's aware of Ron's immense fandom here. I wonder how that is received.
Too bad Page wasn’t a member of our bzbrd Cameron community

Starting at 12:52, Eli Zaret talked about Ron on the Drew & Mike podcast. Drew said his "audience didn't know who Ron Cameron was, I don't think." Eli added that Ron "was a very fringe guy who survived for a long time doing shows on very poorly listened to stations." Eli referenced the mention of the Free Press article & its inclusion of a 1990 quote he gave to Neal Rubin, one he had forgotten giving. He apparently also forgot that he was a guest on Ron's show not that many years ago.

I never got a chance to dine in one of Ron’s restaurants. Almost made it to the deli in Northville but they closed a few weeks earlier. I didn’t even know about the pizza place in Livonia until years later. I was hoping he would have tried one more time just so I could experience it, but unfortunately nobody wants to work anymore.

For his sake, it’s a good thing he didn’t because it wouldn’t have lasted and he needed the money for medical procedures.

is Cowboy dead too? that'd be the only way this could be even better
Nope. He keeps registering new accounts trying to rejoin the Buzzboard.
Jesus lol

I guess at least he hasn't edited Ron's Wikipedia entry to make it mostly about himself, like he once did with Ben Maller of Fox Sports Radio's entry.

If there's a local sportscasters wing in heaven, how awkward will it be for Ron to spend eternity with the likes of Frank Beckmann & Jim Price?! With many more to come.

Could Eli be any more churlish? If that's ALL Ron was, would his death have merited almost a full page career retrospective in the print edition of the Free Press. The man WAS something before his long descent into obscurity (before being re-discovered here, that is). Maybe Eli's ungenerous take is informed by his animus for Bob Page.

I so hope Cowboy can find a Windsor-area pay phone so he can call into the show on Friday. What a fitting tribute to Ron's throwback show it would be if the operator interrupted Cowboy to inform him he had to add more coins to continue the call.

That's sad. I had a feeling that something like this would happen, but it's sad to have it confirmed.

Good luck to Bob and Martin in finding a way to give Ron a permanent, peaceful resting place.

Friday night, when I was trying to process the news of Ron's death, I found myself watching this video. It seemed like the right thing to do, with Ron's eternal search for respect.

I'd love to hear Rodney tell one of Ron's favorite jokes.

"I tell ya, didja hear about those two old fighters goin' for a rematch in Vegas? Wudda they gonna call it? The Geezers at Caesar's?"

While Ron would talk about amorphous meetings with people on the street, e.g., post-interview with New Zeelander Jim Kaat (no best-of Ron, btw, would be complete without some tape of that), Ron’s specific recounting of his meeting with you, Bobbert, on what would be his last show, along with the absence of such specificity any other time I can recall, leads me to believe that personal contact with fans was quite isolated. Good on you that you gave Ron one last taste of what his life once was.

I wonder and hope-some of Ron’s past guests and people he knows call in. Would be interesting to hear there stories. I am sure the best of clips will bring back some fun memories. I wonder if the show on Friday could have some bonus time into the AA show

Anyone speak to Mr Positive? Hope he is ok, it appeared that him and Ron would talk after shows at times?

As the Buzzboard has been a topic on his podcast on a few occasions, Drew surely has to be aware of how the "Ron Cameron" thread has ruled this forum for years. So to willfully ignore us does not sit well.

I wonder if Martin has any insight on why Ron was in the hospital when missed his birthday show. That might explain what led to his death one month later.
