PPM results for 10/10 to 11/6 period`
Highlights:
- WCSX has now fallen 30 percent from its record high ratings of first quarter 2019 and is off 20 percent from just two months ago. It now trails (slightly) sister station 101 WRIF in ages 6+!
- WWJ recorded its worst ratings in a long time. IMO, Brooke Allen in PM Drive is not working!!! She is too serious and monotone. She is the female version of Tom Jordan, basically. Bring back Greg Bowman!!!
- WNIC claims top honors, with WRIF #2, WOMC #3, and WCSX and Mix 92.3 tied for #4.
- Speaking of Mix 92.3, they turned in their best survey in quite some time, with a 5.6 share.
- Being in the thick of football season + frustrated fans needing a "support group" seems to have helped 97.1 The Ticket. They turned in a surprisingly strong 5.5 share, their best showing in a long time.
- Programming tweaks seem to be helping 97.9 WJLB. I do like the new imaging. They are up to a 4.4 share in ages 6+, within spitting distance of 105.1 The Bounce's 4.8 share. 97.9's gains came at the expense of Hot 107.5.
- 105.9 Kiss continues to struggle.
- Lots of stability elsewhere.

Maybe people are finally starting to realize that Dahmer blows.
WJR back over 3.0! I guess they can call that a victory.

There's little doubt in my mind that Dahmer fatigue is affecting WCSX's numbers, although I have no daypart data to support that conjecture.

And unless JT is ordered to fire Dahmer by higher ups, Dahmer will remain there as long as JT stays at CSXMWmetalhead wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 6:02 pmThere's little doubt in my mind that Dahmer fatigue is affecting WCSX's numbers, although I have no daypart data to support that conjecture.

I just can't listen to CSX when Dahmer cracks the mic. Instant preset push. You folks may be on to something.
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

I tend to agree with this. I've found myself listening to WRIF more and more.
It seems to me that WCSX and WLLZ are trying to merge into the same station. You have WCSX now playing "Poison" and WLLZ still playing way too much over played 70's stuff.

What would prevent calling PPM complete nonsense?
This is not very sciency - the collected data, is tainted by the process.
I think that anyone who's had any SPC, or data collection training would look at this and call bullshit.

Dial-your own ratings is what an industry colleague calls it. Crank the encoder level until your ears bleed and the ratings will go up. He did this is during a pledge drive, which is always a historically low ratings period, and bam the ratings went way up.
He turned off his encoder after that and told Nielson to stuff it.

That's what 760 WJR did. It's the ONLY reason they are back up to a 3.1 share, IMO.Crank the encoder level until your ears bleed and the ratings will go up.

Is Cume-less really that invested to the Nash branding that they would continue to let GNASH float along like this? How much longer does GNASH have to continue to rot below a 3.0 rating before the plug is pulled or at least the format is tweaked and station rebranded. Can we at least get a local morning show on the station to help it out? Hell, why not just move Bubba over from Ann Arbor, find a new female co-host (Lisa Jesswin, Rene Vitale, etc.) and see how that works out.

97.1 lol. Tale of two cities, Chicago and Detroit in sports radio. Listening to 670 the score in Chicago about Thanksgiving game Mitch Tribisky does well throwing on rollouts from I formation in man coverage. Patricia runs man coverage like 90% of time. David Blough has underaverage NFL arm and played v Lions in preseason then was traded for after throwing 2 interceptions for Cleveland. Mike Valenti on 97.1 wed., I learned he enjoys bringing a custom cut steak to his mother's for Thanksgiving and eshewing the bird. Interesting I guess. We get what we deserve in this town, radio and Lion's both.

Last night I drove from the Metro Detroit area to St. Joseph. Just past Jackson WJR became very hard to listen too. The signal was spotty at best. Before Battle Creek, I couldn't hear a thing being transmitted..MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 7:56 amThat's what 760 WJR did. WABC New York (AM 770) was clear as a bell pretty much the entire drive from Jackson onward.
Am I wrong to think that a 50,000 w clear channel, at night, should be a whole lot stronger?

WJR suffers from skywave/groundwave cancellation at night. It's gotten worse over the past twenty years in terms of placement, I think. Groundwave coverage isn't what it used to be. Probably a combination of transmission plant wear & tear and expansion of interference sources.

Ironic you mention that, because just last week, on my home system, I had trouble with JR yet WSB 750 from Atlanta was scorching in. WABC, not so much. It seems WSB and WBZ are my best receptions here.Bryce wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 11:27 amLast night I drove from the Metro Detroit area to St. Joseph. WJR was (or is) experimenting with carrier reduction.. This is to save electricity, but it only makes interference worse.
BBC had the opposite technique at one time. During quiet passages crank the carrier (power).
