WNIC Switches to X-mas

Post by musicfan » Fri Nov 01, 2019 9:08 am

Here we go...'NIC switched over at 8:30 AM. Now we get to have a playlist of the same 30-40 songs rammed down our throat 24/7 until Xmas/New Years. With the hundreds of artists and thousands of songs available for the season, it just amazes me that these corporate heads (also insert 'OMC, The Breeze, etc.) assume on our behalf that they know what we want to hear. Sorry, I will stick with my Sirius, Pandora, etc. offerings.

100.3 flipped only because they knew 98.7 was flipping today.

They didn't want 98.7 to get a 7 to 10 day head start.

Yuck. I now know two stations that will be deleted from my car presets. :)

Hey, will we see any viral videos from 98.7's air staff pleading with us to stick around because Top 40 music will return after Christmas? Oops...my bad. That was last year! Silly me.

MW is getting old. You know you're old when there are now more presets on your radio than stations you want to listen to.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

Same (x, y, z), different (t)

Your bullet missed my trial balloon.

RTN Price. Not guaranteed. As of 12:30, 157.71 Down 0.22.

I must be the only person who despises seeing fat Jay Towers flub up another “flip the Christmas switch” segment every year.

You must all love it because they keep doing it.

“5..4...3...2..1............1.......... okay let’s try that again.....5...4...3...2...1... (silence) oh, let me cue this up .... okay, 5...4... (music starts playing) 3... oh, I guess that was it, Merry Christmas!”

I despise seeing Jay Towers in general. He’s a no talent hack, and a major jerk. How he has been in this market for so long still baffles me.

I like Christmas music, at Christmas time. Not two months before. It should start about 1 week ahead of Christmas. After Christmas they should cut it back but keep some in the mix until New Years. SXM started it already a week ago.

What makes this particularly bad is that Thanksgiving falls on the latest possible day this year (11/28).

Days between Halloween 2019 and Thanksgiving 2019: 28
Days between Thanksgiving 2019 and Christmas 2019: 27

Seems kinda late. Wal-Fart had an entire section of egg nog set up a month ago, with expiration dates of Nov 1st, and the it was clearly being shopped. Maybe people just like egg nog?

Overall, I still am puzzled about how "Christmas spirit" is natural on November 1st, but at the stroke of midnight on December 26th, literally the minute that Christmas Day is over, nobody's interested anymore.

On radio it happens on Dec 24 as soon as the malls close.

Probably burnout for a lot of people. The last few years, I've tried to enjoy the Christmas season for a few days after December 25, when I can relax from the intensity of the last few days before 12/25, and maybe recall some of the fresh excitement of the early Christmas season.
