To put in terms, WWJ and WKBD might soon find themselves removed from AT&T services in the latest dispute. It's already getting intense, as is typical in a retransmission dispute.
Speaking of retransmission disputes, has anyone noticed how much they have become more common in recent years, especially since that fight between CBS and Time Warner/Bright House in 2013, and that fight the following year between WNWO and Buckeye Cablesystem just months after Sinclair bought the former (along with the entire Barrington group)?

And it approaches....
My furthest DTV tropo: KDKA Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 202 miles for three days in January 2017 and a night in September 2017 with only an Antennas Direct C2V!
Current setup: Antennas Direct C2Max (2018-present)

Re: And it approaches....
I had a feeling that it wouldn't be very long until yet another carriage dispute erupted, after the ones involving DISH Network and Meredith (owners of WNEM in Bay City/Saginaw/Flint) and AT&T vs. Nexstar broke out in such a short period of time.
It's interesting that you mentioned the Buckeye/WNWO battle, since I mentioned that same thing in the Flint/Tri-Cities forum in my thread ("Here we go again") regarding the current DISH/Meredith dispute.
I can imagine that, eventually (sooner rather than later, most likely), every single retrans renewal period turns into a major dispute.

Corporate greed also exists in local TV. The local stations and the main networks charge way too much when it comes to providing local channels to the cable and satellite companies. I'm getting close to cutting the cable myself. Cable and satellite rates have become outrageous!
It's all about the money!
Re: And it approaches....
I saw the warning on CW 50 news ticker scrawl last night, and I thought glad I don't have cable. But this stuff happens outside of cable and locals. I lost El Rey from Sling due to dispute with Sling and Univision. Also we lost Decades when CBS up and decided to create StartTV, same thing with GetTV until WHNE picked them back up.
Re: And it approaches....
I think it's one thing to charge something in the area where the channels are available OTA, but different when you're going to be streaming it anywhere on the Internet or delivering via satellite. This cost just gets passed onto the consumer, so why charge local folks more money? (I know, "because they can")
Re: And it approaches....
I say let the stations be dropped. They will be the ones suffering from lack of viewership. Fools.
