Detroit Tigers
Detroit Tigers
The Tigers are pathetic. From top to bottom none of them of them can hit.
We get decent pitching and no runs. Been going on for years. Maybe it’s the hitting coach.
Dah!!!

Re: Detroit Tigers
What makes anyone think that Avilla can rebuild this team, all he has in the minors is maybe some pitching,. This current team can't pitch, field or hit and he picked them, could be a long decade. Sure wish Mr. I was still around at least those teams were watchable.
Re: Detroit Tigers
Ilitch had far from watchable teams 15-20 years ago. It took him 119 loses to change his tune.
Re: Detroit Tigers
As the late Tiger broadcaster George Kell said in the Summer of 1979 against the Baltimore Orioles "I don't believe it, I certainly don't believe it"!!!

Re: Detroit Tigers
First they sent Candelario to Toledo, then after yesterday's 17-3 slaughter by the A's ,they DFAed Reid Garrett, whom Gardenhire termed "unusable" with his lack of control and 8.22 ERA. Gardenhire and Avila will be hard-pressed to keep their jobs until 2021, and both boys could be gone in 2020 if the rebuild continues to falter .

We're headed for a #5 draft pick in 2020. Hope the scouts recognize good talent.

Re: Detroit Tigers
Gardenhire is doing the best he can with a rag-tag team if there ever was one.
This is on Avila: Rebuilding is one thing, but you still have to put together a roster of a semi-competitive team. Otherwise, charge minor league prices. The fans (I know I am) need to stay away until they do.
As to the draft: It is looking more and more like Casey Mize is the real deal. We'll see him next year for sure, and maybe later this season. So, yes, high draft picks are a great thing and the scouts recognize talent.

Hey,Mickey,51 years ago today,Frank Howard cleared Tiger Stadium's left-field roof off you !!! How 'bout calling Avila and Gardenhire and offering to pitch a game next week ? Yeah, you're 78 and wheelchair-bound,but if you got someone to wheel you to the slab,I'll bet you could give the boys four or five serviceable innings, four or five more then they've gotten most of this week during which they've been outscored 48-11!!!!

What does this have to do with broadcasting. This should be in the sports stadium.

Re: Detroit Tigers
Can you imagine how empty Comerica will be tonight, tomorrow night and Thursday afternoon when our lads play the Triple-A (maybe) Marlins ? There'll be lots of couples emulating Bob Seger's 1980 song,"The Horizontal Bop" in the unpopulated areas of the bleachers and elsewhere !!!!
