Channel 50 Testing 34.1

Post by SixPlusOne » Thu Jun 20, 2019 5:42 pm

I did a new scan today. I usually get 40 channels. Today I got 39 and that got me wondering and I discovered WKBD-TV airing bars and tone on Channel 34.1. I expect for reasons this entire forum knows about we will see a lot more of this in the months to come. Keeping doing a scan at least twice a week and expect to be surprised.

Ooh thanks for pointing this out. I try to scan my channels a lot but I didn't catch this one. I saw them testing 34 a few months ago.

WKBD switches from RF14 to RF34 on Friday, June 21, the last day to do so following the Transition Phase 3 repack testing period that began April 13. WMYD did its switchover on June 1. Other local "Transition Phase 3" changes for this date are WDWO-CD, 18->22; WLPC-CD, 40->28, mentioned recently in other threads.
The testing period for Phase 8 stations (the rest of Detroit market stations) starts January 18, 2020, ending March 13, 2020. Many of the stations still have considerable plant, tower and antenna work yet to be done, so, really not worth your time or effort doing scans at least for Detroit area in the months to come before then.
