Also known as John Brodie at WWCK Rock Stereo 105 in the 1970s and Mark Stevens on WTAC Big 600. Those chapters are mostly missing in most obituaries and in recent stories.

I worked with Carl at WCSX. Always a nice guy,

I was an intern at WRIF during the summer of 1978, Carl was one of the nicest guys there. Ironic reading of his passing today as this is the eve of the 20th anniversary of the closing of Lili's21 in Hamtramck and I remember Carl calling me at home in 1979-80 asking for directions to get there as he had heard so much about the bar.

Damn. I remember it clear as day when I was listening to WRIF and Carl announced that Lennon had been shot, and then breaking down when he announced that he was dead.
Please look at my signature.

What sad news.....listened to Carlton E Coffey many times on Riff and CSX. Always the consumate professional and one of the best voices in Detroit radio.Caught him only a few times at US103.1 when I was up in mid mich.
