Mojo in the morning phone scams

Post by stopnswop2 » Sun Feb 17, 2019 6:25 pm

How often do they rotate the same actor?

I've heard scams within a short period using the same "victim", and I'm sure people are going to catch on if they are going to do that.

First off Mojo sucks! Secondly all them phone scams are scripted and none are real. And I also question The War Of The Roses.

The ones on 96.3 (Deal Breakers) are even worse. You can tell by listening that this is all scripted; and the participants don’t even sound like people from SE MI. The women usually drop f-bombs, which seem forced. I’m so surprised that Blaine doesn’t call BS on this crap.

Even when I was in the business way back in the Stone Age, We had the staged phone calls from people that worked at the station and very little was actually real, And yes 96.3 is worse actually the whole damn station is now unlistenable. Going back to the Mojo crap, Always remember radio is the theater of the mind.

You shouldn't question War of the Roses. Just like the rest, it is all done using employees.

Of course War of The Roses is fake.

The FCC requires consent prior to recording any caller.
On top of that, Michigan has a wiretapping law that also requires everyone to get consent before recording anyone.

Now is it possible that a tiny tiny number of these calls are real: yes, of course.
Meaning they got consent one way or the other, or,
...they are broadcasting illegally.
...how would anyone truly know unless they are in the studio or are the caller in question... am I right?

Ummmmm...it’s called entertainment on CHR radio. That’s usually how morning shows win in that particular format. I would guess that after several years of doing these that it’s working.

These phone scams are appointment listening. Give the people what they want when they expect it. You’re not always going to hit a home run but when you do they’ll remember it forever.

You’re welcome.

We know how entertainment works sir

However, these kinds of things become less entertaining when you know it's fake.

But we aren't the gullible public, so I personally can't really judge how entertaining it is because my opinion on this matter is biased.
I did really enjoy the show when I was in my preteens though.
My 5th grade bus driver would alternate between DRQ and Q955, and I thought it was just the best! (2001)
I was not ever a big fan of Towers' show though, but still enjoyed listening in the morning for that 45 min ride.
Mojo was the only one I would listen to at home/not on the bus.

The idea that anyone wants this type of programming should be considered specious.

Stopnswap, what you are alluding to is correct. People could give a rats ass whether or not they are fake. After all, they are called phone SCAMS. I haven’t met one person that said “Here comes that fake phone scam, I’m turning over to WJR for my daily dose of reality.”

And speaking of WJR Fet-500, they can give you weather and traffic on the 8’s; although that can be “specious” at times so look out for that fake news stuff.

And finally lovinlife101, it’s a script Bro. Somebody writes it, somebody reads it. And what do you expect Mojo to say? “This phone scam (emphasis on ‘scam’) is being brought to you by Mr. Smoke and Mrs. Mirrors?” Oh wait, why don’t they run a disclaimer every time they crack the mic. Something like “This morning show is full of shit and you are a gullible moron for listening.” C’mon Dude. And btw, Mexico is paying for the wall.

Anyone who thinks these bits are real probably thinks 'reality tv' is real.
