Isn't much of their allure the fact that they're good-looking blond boys ?

99% of the time, when the SNL musical guest comes on,
I start flipping channels.
But I'll tune in to see the little band from the Muth.

I believe that's my line.

That being said, I don't have a young band trying to imitate a more classic sound, as long as they do it well.
These guys... eh.

They are a decent band and I like their new album but they are getting too much love too soon. 20-40 years ago this band would be opening for a bigger act or touring the bar scene not headlining major venues for top dollar. But today the rock scene is so bleak that we have to take what we can get and I hope this young band grows into the hype.

By the way, since largely German Frankenmuth is 0.5% black,do you think the boys have ever seen a person of colour ?

They hail from "Little Bavaria", Michigan.
Their sound is retro style, taking a heavy influence from 70's rock, and obviously, Led Zeppelin.
It's a mix of Blues, Funk, and Folk.
They get compared to Led Zeppelin, not just for the similar music style,
but also the stage mannerisms, and clothing style.
They've made a big splash because there are very little new rock bands coming out.
SNL is a big opportunity for them. :hat

It's really a complete pantomime act - Take a look at the drumkit; the brand is Ludwig and the toms are all the same size and configuration as that used by Bonham. Bonzo used rather large pieces, that were tuned higher than what was traditional to achieve that sound. The big tom-toms, with their heads cranked down, and resonant heads tighter yet, will produce a H*** b o O M - with a sweeping decay. This is the "John Bonham" sound.
B/T/W, that 26" bass drum is a pain to keep tuned.

Same is true for the bronze. That big ride cymbal is not only a 24" but it's a Paiste 2002. I'm waiting for them to hire Jeff Ocheltree...

I can see only one deviation to the classic Bonzo set up; the use of a mic hole in the bass. :)
