Michigan State basketball on WJR

Post by fairbankshockeypuck » Mon Mar 11, 2024 12:35 am

Driving back from Detroit, wow...the broadcast of Michigan State basketball was almost unlistenable on WJR...the crowd noise drowned Will out...color guy wasn"t too bad with his volume....The execution in and out of breaks was sloppy with some dead air and then joined late....
Taking 96 to US 23 I flipped over to 94.9 WMMQ and it sounded better, although Will did get wiped out at times by the crowd mic....I wouldn't pay for the live reads cause I couldn"t hear or understand em...

Will is terrible. He can never give the score right. Example...65 Indiana, 64 Michigan State. Awkward. MSU has been stuck with him for years because I think he has the broadcast rights.

"...(you pick the player) is dribbling around," "...goes over there," "He GOT it!" (the latter is his signature call for three pointers).

Tieman is chummy, but that's about the nicest thing to say about in his regard.

Heard earlier today that MSU can possibly be preempting some of Paul W's shows this week. I'll let you jokers make all the wise ass comments now. Ha!

I'd like to be a fly on the wall in that meeting. :smokin

MSU sports should NOT be on WJR or WMMQ. When I worked in Lansing, a lifetime ago, MSU sports was relegated to AM 1240, Big JIM, Your Country Cousin, where it belonged. MMQ was still in Charlotte back then. They were the local Tigers affiliate, but I can't imagine Bob Ottaway carrying the Spartans on MMQ, even in those days. Low hanging fruit, at best.

MSU football and basketball airs on 92.9 WJZQ (a 100kW Hot AC station) in Traverse City/Cadillac

No wonder Z93 WJZQ has such rotten ratings!

Yep, and tens of listeners would be so disappointed.

Clownsquare must be getting some serious coin from MSU to put that junk on 'MMQ. It's been a lot of years, but the only ads I recall on WJIM were not ours...they were MSU's.

Cume-u-Less airs friggin' GVSU athletics on its WLAV and WTNR in Grand Rapids. Pay-for-play at it's finest.

These stations will put any old crap on the air if someone flashes enough money in front of them.
