They’re changing they are Entercom’s only Detroit underperformer they never had good numbers as a Top 40 and let’s face it the young demos don’t really tune in to radio that much to have a market like Detroit to support 2 or 3 Top 40 stations.

Smells like a rebranding stunt.
The Christmas music playlist is the same stale Christmas playlist OMC has been using for the last 5 years almost song for song. Gag. Roberts probably copy and pasted it.

Yep. The more I learn about it, the more it sounds like rebranding. Just under a different name. Damn. Was hoping for something better and not so...ignorant.

Why even bother rebranding? Detroit needs to give WNIC some competition. I'd love a gold based AC. But I never get what I want for radio formats....

I'm thinking "like, um, can we like, um, fuck? 98.7" or "yo let's do adderall and be offended by everything 98.7" or even "DURRRRRRRR 98.7"

WNIC already has competition. It's called WDVD.

We do NOT need another milquetoast AC.

However, Variety Hits (done right) or soft rhythmic AC would both be welcomed by me! :)

When whitebread Soft AC has been tried here, it has failed. Look no further than Soft Rock 105.1 and even 100.7/95.1 across the river.

On the other hand, a KKWV clone would be great!

Extremely few visitor posts on their Facebook about the change. I found maybe ten total.

They either have an abysmal level of listener engagement or are expunging as many posts as possible.

MW you mentioned on how their social media has new posts being made and you were possibly thinking of just a rebranding. The same thing is happening in Philadelphia with WISX. They didn't change the logo, just added a Santa hat. The call it "real Christmas" on 106.1. Their social media is still active and posting random celebrity news, concert info, etc. So Im not sure.

Why is it also broadcasting on WOMC HD2? This in itself makes. No sense to me..... Anyone know why?

Has Entercom registered any domains fo a hint?

And the final piece of the puzzle.... Has any on-air personalities been let go? Has anyone checked their social media for a post?

Less than 1% of all FM radio listening is to HD side channels. Whatever WOMC-HD2 is doing has zero bearing on 98.7 analog 7 & vice versa.

I wonder if this is just for the weekend or if this will be for the next month and a half? True, we don't need another AC. 89x and WRIF pretty much have the rock market, unfortunately. Still there is a big hole for Variety hits, low overhead and cheap to run.

It doesn’t matter what they do now or after the holidays what ever it is if it’s something some people like after a short time the novelty will wear out and it will get boring due to limited playlist they could play polka music and even that gets boring so let’s not get to excited.

Variety hits will not work anymore because they tend to lean in a certain format as well ,look at Doug FM they had more Classic Rock in the playlist and currently Cool FM just recently changed to more of a Classic Rock playlist as well these stations that say the play everything just don’t it couldn’t be possible.
