WCXI has been playing pop music of different languages, plus a few in English. I don’t think this is stunting, more of a “we have no idea what to put here at the moment”. I can’t imagine this being the final format.

I was in Livonia and caught WPON as well. Same programming that WCXI used to have. Reception dies around Westland and points south and probably east.

Neither 1160 nor 1460 comes in well at all at my RL 30 miles East. Neither stopped the scan. Often interference from WYLL 1160, and WBNS 1460 and others during the early afternoon.

Both have EXTREMELY weak, barely audible signals here in west Windsor. Absolute garbage. Can't figure out why they don't put the oldies on 1090???

Doesn’t WCXI have a CP for 15,000 watts? Why would they need authorization? They can go full power right now, then apply for the actual license. Sima and company are just cheap, that’s all.
Fuzz I dug this up just for your clarification:

WCXI - Special Temporary Authority - June 26, 2019

This authority expires on December 23, 2019.

They are required to still reach Fenton in the STA. Does 250 watts from Milford Twp do so?

If WPON is at their licensed power, their signal is horrible my way. Must be in the null. It was decent in Livonia and Northville, but then again it should be.

I don't know yet whether they are at full power at this time.

WPON's signal strength is about the same as that of WCXI when it's actually on the air.

In other words - they both stink.

1460 is stronger than it was, but it's still weak and you can still hear cochannel beats. I doubt that it's more than 0.5 mV/m at the very most in the major lobe.

At what distance?

I certainly hope that's not at 1km!

1160 and 1460 are 30 miles away. I guess I have to finally buy some field strength meters to prove what I'm saying, instead of estimating based on other measurements I made in the past. And M-3 really overestimates it on this path. Looks like all the spares that were lying around to borrow are gone. They're going for ridiculous prices online. I'll have to look at the old Allied Catalogs to see what they went for in 1970. The price for renting them for a month is almost as much as the units cost.

I have zero signal from WPON at my house today. This is the first time I've checked since last Wednesday for reception. Were they off the air the entire weekend?

WCXI is readable but faint.

Both stations are a total joke. Worse than the typical high school radio station (speaking of which, I'm gonna start a new thread to discuss the abortion known as 88.3 WSHJ).

I'm noting just a carrier at this time although they were OK earlier today with programming. I believe they were off during the weekend for whatever reason.

Noting the link below are you in the blue contour?

WPON was on this weekend and earlier today. Their signal still sucks- it’s too weak in my area to listen to for long periods. I get better reception from WSPD and even WPAY.

Those contours are for the longtime, former TX site near Fenton. They are meaningless since the station now broadcasts from Wixom.

For some reason, FCCdata.org hasn't updated the contour plot to reflect the new TX location.
