I think they are moving WAY too fast.
They only added 80's music in 2010. now 6 years later all these 90s songs, even some from the 2000's.
Why the rush to add the 90s, and rid of the 60s?
Clearly there is an audience still, based on the high number of 60's songs requested during the noon and 5 pm request hours.

Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do (1994)
Hootie and The Blowfish - Only Wanna Be With You (1995)
Eric Clapton - Change The World (1996)
Blues Traveler - Run Around (1995)
Smash Mouth - I'm A Believer (2001)
Bon Jovi - It's My Life (2000)
Aerosmith - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing (1998)
Sheryl Crow - The First Cut Is The Deepest (2004)
Elton John - The One (1992)
Seal - Kiss From A Rose (1994)
Elton John and George Michael - Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me (1991)
Wilson Phillips - Hold On (1990)
Tina Turner - I Don't Wanna Fight (1993)

There may be others
There were a few others, but it's majority 80's I think now.

Heard that as well. Couldn't believe it. I figure a DMB song that would be more friendly would have been What Would You Say or Crash Into Me. It's so weird remembering them being new and hearing them on Planet 96.3 or 89x. Now they're on the "Oldies" station

Welp, gotta drink my Sanka and head to Big Boy for a fried egg and toast.

In their defense they are a quarter century old...

I know.
All these songs I still consider "newer" are like 20 years old.
Heck, the Backstreet boys first single is 22 years old now.
I'm in such denial over it being 2019, lol

The New Oldies are The 80’s and The 90’s the radio industry just doesn’t label them as Oldies, Just go back to airchecks from WOMC Oldies 104.3 from The 90’s and they were playing ‘67-‘79 so The 70’s 20 years ago were considered Oldies, The 90’s even though they’re not called Oldies are indeed Oldies and soon so will songs from 2000-2009 in a couple of years of course. And as they say “The Beat Goes On” Good Day!

Smash Mouth should be smashed in the mouth for their cruddy cover of "I'm A Beliver." (If Davy Jones were still alive,I'd wish he would bite each Smash Mouth member on his ankles .)

I saw Harry Chapin at the University of Windsor around Christmas 1980, six months before he was killed in a car crash at age 38. My most vivid memory of the concert was Chapin's taking about a half-hour to fix a broken guitar string .

Wrong.
They were playing late 50s to early 70s in the 1990s.
Where are you inventing "67-79" from?
That's not even a format

This is way off topic, but why did they atop using the JAM Z100 Flame Thrower package jingles?
Those were catchy af. Catchier than the actual music, lol.
They got rid of them in 2017 when they added the 90s music and use the lame reelworld crap now.

But since the 90s tunes are gone, why not go back to those jingles

There was a time in the 90’s that they had the peak year of 1967 and covered most of the playlist from ‘67- ‘73 thats what I’m trying to say. Of course there were songs before ‘67 and after ‘73 but the core of the format was ‘67- ‘73

I remember the sound of the station in the 90s like it was yesterday.
The 70s tunes were very very limited. Never going pasto 74.
The main focus was the 60s. Not just 67 thru 69.
It was a great mix of the entire decade. They however always had this "classic rock" lean that annoyed me.

Now when it came to the 2000s, there was a definite focus on 67-79 as you stated, but not before 2000.
But still obviously playing a lot of music from 60-66.

In fact, up until the 2013 playlist change Christmas stunt, they were still playing music as old as 1960 and as new as 1989.
2014 is when they dropped music before 65

You’re right, I wasn’t in Detroit through most of the 90’s but only remembered what I heard on my short visits to see my folks when they were still alive, I didn’t really move here until June of ‘98 to get a real feel of Detroit Radio again, I was away from my Hometown from ‘84 - ‘98 It was Chicago then to The Northwest after the gig at WXRT.
