I attempted to all last week but I think jj is sick of me lol
They play lots of those songs overnights and on weekends... Outside of noon and 5 those are your best bets. But the audience for those songs is literally dying....

I never understood how programmers/consultants decided that the only audience for a certain period of music was the ones who grew up with it. What about music enjoyed as oldies? (e.g. I enjoyed WOMCs 50s/60s oldies that they played in the early 1990s). I would think that music from 1972, for example, has some appeal to those other than 60-year olds, who were in high school that year.

It drops off as you go younger... Look at how WOMC is often #1 but lags to like 7th in the 25-54... Most of their audience is 55+... It's unlikely a significant portion is under 25. Some appeal? Sure but not much...

Research shared between stations and consultants. It eventually becomes the bible, if stations become successful using it.

Why is everybody under the impression 60's and early 70's songs don't play when they very clearly do?

They aren't hearing the songs they want to hear is why, and possibly a lack of chart knowledge.

On the other hand these are becoming oldies... The passage of time is equally depressing...

Exactly. I remember what WOMC was playing in the early-mid '80s when I was 8-12 years old: Motown, Beatles, early Stones... stuff that was 20 years old, just like that '90s stuff is now.

Who doesn't? Once they were announced for the Super Bowl, I volnteered to work my day job. And the bosses were worried about staffing that day...

I don't like how music has to be defined by how old a song is.

And also, the Coldplay song has to go.
Kiss from a Rose by Seal is fine, it fits in with the rest of the songs, Clocks doesnt sound good back to back with anything they play.

So how would you define music then? Should they throw Lady Gaga in there?
