Maybe,EnbyCee, but our university students can actually read and write when they graduate, unlike so many Yankee grads who must be taught remedial English and Math after matriculation .

Folks at the ol' Circle Seven need to take a class in using a map to know Where Things Are.
The May 1 4 o'clock showed chopper shots of the 14' flooding under the M-39/Outer Drive overpass, Chyron said "DETROIT-Southfield and Outer Drive." That is in Allen Park, not Detroit (to confuse things, there actually is a different Outer Drive/M-39 bridge in Detroit, north of McNichols. No flood there).
On the 10pm cast on TV20, the same location identified as "Dearborn Heights."
Nope. Amazed they find their way. GPS tells you how to get there, but not the town where "there" is.

Sat, Jul. 13- Someone please tell the WXYZ anchor on TV20 that "Moross" on the east side is not pronounced "Morris," or, "Moe-rose." Thank you.

Newbie reporter on 7 Action News (TV20 10p Aug 28).Tip jar robbery at a Southfield coney.
Says it's on LASH-r.
Says to pass information to Southland police.

Apparently no training or orientation for new reporters at the Circle.

My father (died 1997) INSISTED it was LASHer. I told him it is actually LAAHzir, but he wouldn't hear of it.
I later realized that westsiders often DO say LASHer.

Detroit has several street names that do this.
"Conners" (it's actually Conner), "Owens" (Owen) "Calvary" (Cavalry).
Some can get people lost. It's common to hear "7 mile and Mack" (E 7 mile ends at Kelly - people don't know that they've turned onto Moross, which actually going Southeast and crosses Mack about two miles down - same thing with people who think they're on 8 mile when they're actually on Vernier. Seymour as well).
