$500 a month, 313sports?! Ron could be doing alright if that’s close to being the case.

briangoleb, I love when, mid-read, Ron suddenly stops, crumbles the ad copy, barking out, “They don’t pay!” He also harangues callers with any kind of business to advertise on his stellar broadcast. You’re right about his constant butchering of his commercials, making it so rich when, seemingly lying in wait, he pounces on Fraser caller Kurt (who, sheesh, has actually, more than once, given out his last name on air!) for any mistake, real or imagined. In fact, I think Ron, who, not surprisingly, seems to not so secretly hate his callers, none more so than Kurt, hears Kurt only insofar as he can call him out on his grammar and/or pronunciation. So, in classic Cameron style, where he directs his comments to sports personalities as if they were actually listening, I implore Kurt to grow a pair!

313sports,I've heard others mention Price's backstabbing in a more circumspect manner than Cameron . My parents told my deceased sisters and me never to say anything we couldn't corroborate in court,so perhaps Cameron has unimpeachable sources re. Price's perfidy .

Cameron is always barking at Curt, the show's best caller, despite Curt's usually good points .

Cameron has always hated the Fab Five, especially Chris Webber ,so perhaps he was shocked that Michigan would hire Fab Fiver Juwan Howard as Beilein's replacement .

Kurt's surname is apparently Mueller, which he pronounces "Miller" ala 2003 A.L. batting champ Bill Mueller .

Cowboy, you can go to www.newspapers.com. If you don’t want to be a paying subscriber, you can get a free, 7-day trial. And, as an aside, I would strongly caution against taking Ron’s word against anybody, Jim Price included, as the gospel. Ron has a tendency to make things up out of whole cloth. I most certainly don’t believe his oft-told story of Price telling others he has a lifetime contract with the Tigers to continue broadcasting. Cameron’s continual, off-the-chain, railing against the radio team smacks of something deeply personal. With Ron, everything’s personal.

Mono,if just Cameron were making these charges against Price,I'd strongly tend to dismiss them. However,I've heard much more credible sources than Cameron allude to these situations Cameron mentions, though with far less vitriol .

Some people are just too stubborn to change with the times. That's why he hasn't been paid to do a show in 30+ years and he rents time. Even back when he was doing Sportsview, his egotistical attitude shined thru.

313sports, EVERYTHING is always about this textbook narcissist. I noticed that, in wasting a decent guest like Joe LaPointe (ignoring his guest, while constantly commenting on the ongoing Tigers game .... a team going nowhere), he had to mention that LaPointe had written a lot about HIM in his Free Press years! He had promoted LaPointe for weeks for his documentary on the ‘68 Tigers, only to be told by his guest that the documentary was on the ‘84 team, and that he was just a talking head. I remember Ron talking about what a good relationship he had with Bob Talbert. Then I got access to the Free Press archives only to read Talbert continuously bash Ron in no uncertain terms. And his response to Cowboy wishing him a happy Memorial Day weekend was classic Cameron. His first instinct was to say that he didn’t care about that, that he didn’t have a family! As clueless as Ron is, I really believe he thought Cowboy was talking about Mother’s or Father’s Day and that he had no idea it was a holiday weekend.
I thought I was the only one that noticed how Ron was doing commentary on the Tigers game just leaving Joe hanging.... then if you noticed Joe said I got to go, I got grandkids over and of course Ron is completely oblivious to what that entails and tells him one more caller and proceeds to keep Joe til the end of the hour. Joe was very polite but geesh the guy has no concept of manners towards his guests.

I respectfully disagree with you Cowboy. Usually Curt just rambles on and on and on making it difficult for our boy Ron to get a word in edgewise. I think Ron gets frustrated and takes it out on Curt sometimes deservedly so. I thought they could just mute the caller like 97.1 has a good habit of doing so the host could get his say in. I gather you fellas like Curt but I disagree with a lot of his takes especially the one he was talking about this past weekend- had to do with Miggy.

Incidentally,Cameron claims he left WPON because of the station's incompetence . Hearing his act on 1400 AM, I think it likely THEY told Ronnie to take a hike .

I just cannot believe that Salem would sell him the time. Must be tight on cash. I would've never let him on my Station in Detroit.

Mr. Transistor, I agree with your opinion of Kurt (since he's recklessly given out his surname on air, I've confirmed that's the spelling of his forename). He's only a "good caller" when contrasted with the execrable JJ, who somehow thinks Ron is the best thing on radio. But I do appreciate the fact that Kurt's non-stop talking continuously frustrates Ron's opportunity to talk about himself. And jry, I remember when one of Ron's advertisers was Larry Flynt's Gentleman's Club, and wondered how that possibly passed muster on a conservative network.

Best ad was a "novelty shop" that was taken off only a week into reading.
