So, no, Scoop didn't break any story. And, as to his repeated claims that Ripken doesn't, thus, deserve to own the consecutive game record, this cancellation occurred in August 1997. Ripken broke the record in September 1995.

He's always been very indecisive in every phase of the restaurant process. I don't doubt something in his mind changed as Monday was an eternity in Ron's restaurant world. A "new deal" came up or someone didn't call him back. I think the teasing of an announcement is a way to feed his ego and when people ask about it, that makes him believe all the "fans" will flock to it.
