Some registered account users are experiencing password recognition issues. The issue appears to have been triggered by a PHP update on October 30. If this is occurring, please try logging in and using the "forgot password?" utility. Bear in mind auto-generated password reset emails may appear in your spam folder. If this does not work, please click the "Contact Us" option near the lower right hand corner of the index page to contact me via email. I have responded to all password reset requests received through 6a ET on November 7. You should see an email from the "Admin" email account.

November 9 update: Due to app errors, I have disabled the Tapatalk plug-in. As such, the Buzzboard is currently unavailable in Tapatalk. I am trying to do a clean reinstall, but each reinstall attempt is generating database errors. I am hopeful that the issue will be able to be resolved in the next few days.

Thank you for your patience!

Bob Page on X claims that he was not asked to participate in the tribute show.

FYI: I was able to record the show with a 60 second break to start the AA and Revolving Door Show which continued the tribute.

I’d be interested too. I can always make room for more clever and witty jokers. Is there a mover and shaker amongst us that can make this happen?

Mark didn't have internet access, so, unless he saw the print edition of last Saturday's Free Press, he might not know about the news.

The Ram's Horn in Southfield would seem to be a logical choice. A Sunday afternoon this month, perhaps?

If we can find a place with a CD player, I can make CD's of past shows and we can hear them.

I haven’t seen that on his X page, unless I missed it.

We need something like a Mayo Smith Society.

Think about it - you all could bring your Ron Cameron piss jars to possibly trade.
248 years was a pretty good run

There had to be a lot of trade-offs for people who personally knew him.

Like on February 9, when I helped make fun of his radio show for two hours on the Buzzboard, and then had a friendly face-to-face conversation with him at the Southfield Ram's Horn.

ShempLives wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2024 1:43 pm Interesting that we heard stories of the Detroit Red Wings players twice(!) paying Ron's "tuition" for umpire school. More from Mr. LaPointe's May 7, 1979 column: "'Ron was living in the Cass Corridor,' says Jim Grandon, 37, a Tigers' season ticket holder who has known Cameron since they met in the lower deck bleachers in 1957. 'He was broke One weekend Ron existed on water and potato chips. I'd offer to buy him lunch and he wouldn't let me. He was embarrassed, I guess. But he borrowed $500 from me to go to umpires' school. Paid it all back, too.'"
Joe LaPointe's appearance was the highlight of the tribute show for me. Without him, Ron's Wikipedia page would have had less information.

Joe would be the perfect person to write Ron's biography. He has the knowledge, understanding and passion about Ron to do a good job. Ron's life would make a very interesting book, with Ron as a case study for an analysis of sports fans; people rising from humble beginnings; the history of Detroit sports in the last 50 years; and the challenges faced by entrepreneurs. Even though Ron's gone, there is plenty of primary source material in the stories he told about himself on the air.

I recall that after LaPointe's 1979 column was printed, Ron came into the store (Kent Drugs) and was not happy. Mr. Cameron intimated that he and Mr. LaPointe were "through." Evidently they reconciled.
