I tested the procedure with Matt's name and it passed with flying colors. Now I'm hoping that Matt will follow the procedure with the names of Ron Cameron regulars to maybe help remove us from his awareness and solve his extreme and unhealthy obsession with us.

Here's a YouTube link to Denny McLain performing "The Girl From Ipanema." When I and a friend broadcast from WPON, we played songs off of YouTube. Wouldn't this be a nice introduction when Denny next comes on, if not a theme song for Ron's show? (In lieu of "We Are The Champions.") https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=119z9LPWSEI

Is there any reason why Ron had his "We Are The Champions" theme song on other stations but never on WPON?

I think it was something that Alex put together at WDTK and was maybe copyrighted in some way by the station. When Alex was producing, he used to do a voiceover at the end of the song—"This has been Sportstalk with Ron Cameron" or something like that.

Or maybe Martin just doesn't want to use somebody else's idea.

Ron could easily re-make his show into a variety show that focuses on sports. Martin could play some tunes, Ron could talk about TV shows, and the sports talk could be much less repetitive.

Great idea Bobbert, it would allow Ron to move on from the same weekly topics and Martin could spin some tunes in between. It’s to bad Ron would not change! But a great concept for sure!!

Thanks. Many years ago, I think in the last millennium, Ron did a Christmas show with a bunch of his favorite holiday tunes. That show turned me on to this cute little song by Mike Douglas—"Happy Birthday Jesus"

Looking at the posts in the drew and Mike thread, appears to be an angry group there in comparison to us. I look at us as a virtual group get together proving and enjoying the insight of one Ron Cameron

I kind of see this “fan base” as a gathering of train wreck aficionados watching the Cameronball Express barreling down the tracks toward the rickety old wooden trestle bridge over the gorge. There is a good amount of comedic gold amongst the group.

Well what set scope off is I made the comment it seems to me he will "put the paddles" to the Basement Podcast thread if it sits idle for about a month. And post something inconsequential just to keep it going.

We can all agree the Cameron thread don't idle long at all.
Ron's groupies post 30 times a day in adoration of their home town hero.

I am not a Ron Cameron fan or groupie.I am a fan of the Ron Cameron thread. There is a difference.I have not listened to the Ron Cameron show for months.I find it to be the worst show I have ever heard. It has no entertainment value for me.Howevet this thread is fantastic.The comments and song parodies are great.This thread is must reading for me.

I might listen in once or twice a month just to see if I might happen upon the show where he nukes it all and is taken out of the studio in a straight jacket.

WNZK would be my best guess. Same building, and Sima doesn’t care about content as long as the check clears. It also covers Downriver well, an area he has been talking up recently.

WFDF 910 is second guess, despite Ron trashing Kevin Adell. I’ve heard exactly one local spot on the station (for channel 7’s news, believe it or not), and he could use the cash flow. The signal is much better, even with the nulls in NE Macomb and Grosse Ile/Trenton. Board ops aren’t much of an expense for Adell.

I wouldn’t rule out 1440 WMKM, though their signal is awful even for a 1000 watt station.

Longshots are a Crawford AM (if they are desperate for cash) and even 1310, despite being a Spanish station.

I don’t see 1400 WDTK as long as Luke is station manager. WJR is also out, WWJ only brokers to retirement shows, and 1270 probably operates out of a broom closet. The Windsor stations are also out (despite Ron buying time on CKLW a few decades ago)
