Make it full-time Jazz/smooth Jazz. Its not completely missing from the dial but there isnt really a full-time, all-jazz station. Usually just at night.
It might give The Breeze a run for their money as the "at work" station.

Who’s doing Smooth Jazz part-time? Other than WRCJ.Y M Ionhere wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 9:16 pmMake it full-time Jazz/smooth Jazz. Its not completely missing from the dial but there isnt really a full-time, all-jazz station. Usually just at night.

"Cloud Boys" were shown the door a long time ago. Mary Berner is in charge.WZRC 1067 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 2:38 amLets see: Any sort of rock format is out. CHR I doubt. WJR, simulcast nah.
Sports? I don't see the cloud boys putting the money into that unless they were really serious. I look at some of there other sports stations in other markets and I'm not impressed. Toledo's 106.5 is pitiful.
If I were to bet, it would be a return to variety hits, albeit a different name.
Selling the station? if EMF came in again, K-love would go to 93.1 and air 1 would make its way to 102.7.

Might not be on anymore. There was a talk station running a sattelite smooth jazz feed during eveningsChuck Davies wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 9:37 pmWho’s doing Smooth Jazz part-time? Seriously, peeps. What's with the smooth jazz? Everyone is acting like it is a very popular form of music. You can do an all upbeat music channel, like channel 300 on SiriusXM. Covers all genres. It is like DougFM, but all fast tempo tracks. 98.7 has the idea with all breezy tracks, this would just be the opposite.
Re: 93.1 Gnash FM is now the lowest rated station in Detroit
The music is running away from radio and going to other platforms, I stream all my music and just use radio for Talk, Sports, Traffic and Weather, In The next 10 years there won’t be much music choices on the radio and it’s already started like 5 years ago. Look at the resurgence of the vinyl record and cassette and believe it or not CD’s will even be around for a while longer and the on demand music platforms we have at our fingertips, People want their music, Not what the masses want, But me, I want my music right here right now.

Because its one of the few genres missing.tivoking wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 2:57 pmSeriously, peeps. What's with the smooth jazz? Everyone is acting like it is a very popular form of music. Your idea would basically guarantee the same worn, tired, overplayed Journey, AC/DC, Guns N Roses and Bon Jovi crap that all the other stations have already ruined.
Who else locally plays Pat Methany and Herbie Hancock? Exactly.

I agree that is one format that is missing from the dial, And forget HD 2 or any sub for that format, It needs to be a main channel format, Detroit has too many Classic Rock/Hits, R&B, Sports, Country, Top 40 and Jesus Music Stations on the Dial So Smooth Jazz would be welcome.Y M Ionhere wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 3:25 pmBecause its one of the few genres missing.tivoking wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 2:57 pmSeriously, peeps. Smooth jazz wouldn’t be the worst idea for an AM throwaway. There was a station in northern Indiana doing that a few years ago. I don’t see it coming back to a commercial FM.

And as AC gets increasingly more modern, it becomes less ideal for certain settings. Katy Perrys drunk skank songs dont belong in medical offices or professional settings. A lot of AC is sounding too dance-popish. Thats a great opening for contemporary "weather-channel" jazz.

300 on SiriusXM plays, Rock, rap, disco, pop, EDM, R&B, from the 60s through today. I guess it could go all classical, based on your jazz reasoning. There's no classical power station in this area, just those weak signal varieties.Y M Ionhere wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 3:25 pmBecause its one of the few genres missing.

Another great idea, Bring Classical back full time on a full signal.

They should turn into a smooth soul format. “Smooth 931”.
Very little talk, adult r&b / old school , 1059 and 923 are unlistenable to me lately
