Windsor Raceway track announcer and television announcer Marty Adler just died (https://mibuzzboard.com/phpBB3/viewtopi ... 43#p793699).

I remember hearing Marty do a radio interview while announcing at the track. He would take a break from the interview to call a race. I think it was on Ron's show, maybe in the 1990s. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Also, Ron and Marty made plans for a TV show. I can't remember this ever happening.

Marty Adler was the first "stands guy," in my recollection of PASS broadcasts from Tiger Stadium. I got in a shot in '89 and he's talking as it occurs. I had no idea who he was, being across the state and north of GR at that time. The Coyote, Marty Adler, who makes it "the third?"

Don Wert was at the reunion? He wasn't in the photo. Nor was Tracewski.
Wish we could have heard Ron and Denny reminisce about Don Wert.

Sorry to hear of Don Wert's passing. He was certainly a valuable member of that iconic 1968 team. He'll always live on in Ernie's call of that ninth inning, two out hit that scored Kaline to clinch the penant So sad when the old heroes of our childhood pass on. RIP Don.

With Don Wert's passing. ten Tigers remain from the '68 roster: Les Cain, Dave Campbell, Bob Christian, John Hiller, Willie Horton, Mickey Lolich, Denny McLain, Mickey Stanley, Dick Tracewski & Jon Warden.

Not as good as the '61 Tigers though.

Good point. Just like the Bad Boys Pistons and the Goin' to Work Pistons who won championships will never measure up to the 73-74 team coached by Ray Scott that lost a tough 7-game series with the Chicago Bulls.

Read a piece in the Detroit news on Lance Parrish and Tom Gage writing a book on the 84 Tigers, with Ron’s promotion of Lance for a bigger role in the front office, I feel he would have worked to get Lance in for a interview on the book, perhaps Tom Gage as well

Lance was always a standup guy, and it sounds like his book will be honest about a few things:

Before Ron died, did Lance meet Scott Harris? As we all know, that was something Ron wished for.

Starting at 8:53, & delaying the start of Hawaii Five-O, the 5th game of the series with the Bulls:

I just wanted to update everyone on Big Al Avila. Saw Al at the Denny's near the airport and not only has the avocado ranch breakfast wrap he came up with selling big time he has also put up a one gallon guppy tank by the front vestibule. Along with the goldfish bowl at the checkout counter Al has proven his unmatched expertise in dealing with small live fish. I asked him about Jake Rogers and his robust .190 batting average and Al said no fear; that J.R. will really hit his stride when he turns 30. I reminded him that even Jim Price had a lifetime average of .214 and Al simply responded by saying to give it time. I wanted to but just dropped the fact we've been waiting seven years.......

Good to hear, Rob, that Avila's still gainfully employed & that he seems to have found his true calling.

Indeed - it certainly is refreshing Al has found himself.

UM football starts another season tonight, at home against Fresno State.

Or, as Ron might have called it, The Cupcake Invitational.

As the baseball season reaches its seventh inning stretch, here is a parody of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".

Tune me into Ron Cameron,
Tune me into his show,
Buy him some air time on 'DTK,
Toll-free calls to give each fan their say,

For it's Kurt, Cowboy, and Mister-r-r P,
If they don't call it's a shock,
'Cause it's one, two, three or more ads,
Between each caller.

This epic thread has reached another significant milestone.

We've been added to the Buzzboard Hall of Fame.

https://mibuzzboard.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=28

It seems appropriate that we share space with the Misheard Song Lyrics thread, since both threads have thrived on creative interpretations.

Thanks for the recognition.
