I just got around to watching ESPN's E:60 on Armando Galarraga's 28-out "perfect" game & Ron's mortal enemy Ron Colangelo makes a cameo appearance. He talks about telling Jim Leyland that umpire Jim Joyce "is a mess" & "someone needs to talk to him, to look after him." Seems like a genuinely sympathetic figure, not the monster Ron routinely depicted.

On another matter, although heard broadcasting the game, Mario & Rod are never identified, let alone among the talking heads that included Dan Dickerson.

I recall Ron liking them. But, belying his “insider” status, he was clueless about the longstanding friction that predated their blowup. Rod may have “come in” on Mario too frequently.

I think Ron's judgment of Colangelo was consistent with his judgment of most people. The only thing that mattered was how much did they do for Ron.
