Has anyone out there been having a problems with Comcast outages? In roughly the last month I have three outages that lasted three hours or more. Does have anything to with the Pandemic, (staff shortages, heavy use of system.)

We have Spectrum in our area, and we had no problems at all.

My X1 box acted up a couple weekends ago, but a simple unplug and reboot fixed the issue. Wasn't an issue with the signal coming into the house.

My guess is a failing bandwidth equalizer that services sfpcc's neighborhood is the culprit. Had that issue at my old house about 6 or 7 years ago.

NBC Universal is the most politically biased company in the world. Everyone should cut the cord. Then Concast would suffer, like they support people who make people suffer and undermine their lives and make them suffer. And let them die because they didn't try Hydroxychloroquine until it was way too late to help.

Cut the cord and lose my high speed internet service? No thanks!

Why not? Are you still paying for service? Why would you let it go 6 months if you're not getting anything?

Batteries need replacing?

They’ll replace the remote clicker (or the box) for free if it’s actually bad.

There have been three outages (two brief, the other for about two hours) in my neighborhood over the past two weeks for equipment maintenance.

The most recent one occurred yesterday around 4PM and lasted for maybe 10 minutes.

In the many years I've had Comcast I can't complain about the service or tech support. The only complaint is the pricing structure that rewards new customers and punishes existing customers. AT&T does it too.
Cell phone providers don't do that.

I agree.

What's nice in the cell phone plan space these days is that there are scores of different options & different providers from which to choose. There are some prepaid plans that offer truly excellent pricing these days. Around the beginning of December, I signed up for Mint Mobile, and got six months of service for 50% off the already great regular price. For 10 GB of 4G/5G data monthly, with taxes & fees included, I paid $72 in total for six months of service, which works out to $12 a month. (The $15 per month plan that is advertised ubiquitously on television features a still respectable 4 GB per month high speed data allowance; that price is before taxes & fees of about $2 per month.)

Unfortunately, when it comes to broadband, MVNO equivalents pretty much do not exist. I suppose a streaming service such as YouTube TV is the closest analogue.

The irony is companies such as Comcast and Spectrum now function as MVNOs for cellular service!

I don't know the difference between their service going out or my router(supplied by them) crapping out. I don't want to fuck things up with a new router though. Thankfully, my interruptions lately have been 3-5 minutes a couple times in the last two weeks. I was having major issues early last year and 2020 though.
