streaming Toledo stations in Monroe county, Michigan

A place to discuss broadband, streaming video, cable, and satellite services (not programming). Bitch about your crappy cable, satellite or streaming video provider here! This is also the place to talk about channel line-ups, packages, and special offers.

streaming Toledo stations in Monroe county, Michigan

Post by 80sTalkRadioFan » Tue Jun 18, 2024 2:55 pm

My dad lives in Bedford township, Michigan and recently joined so many of us by cancelling Buckeye Broadband's TV services. He has Roku but cannot get WTVG channel 13 in Toledo. Other than getting an antenna, any ideas for getting this station in southern Monroe county? He doesn't like watching Detroit stations, even though all of Monroe county is in the Detroit designated market area, all the way down to the Ohio border. I thought he might be able to get 13 via the ABC app, since I'm on the Ohio side of the border and get both WTVG Toledo and WXYZ Detroit through that app. No such luck for him. Thanks for any suggestions.

https://www.13abc.com/livestream/

doesn't simulcast 13 over the air 24/7 but it does have their newscasts live, same as 13's own app on Google Play I believe. I don't THINK either would be geoblocked in Monroe? Assuming he just wants their news that should be good enough.

That's pretty much it at far as legal options besides getting an antenna good enough to get WTVG over the air.

Thanks. I suggested that website to him. I think he finally decided to order an antenna. Just a topic of discussion when we got together for Father's Day. As mentioned in another post, some streaming services are more restrictive than others when it comes to local channels, but he has Roku. Anyway, thanks again for your suggestion.

I'm a tad late but getting TV 13 in, in Bedford twp should not be a problem, even with a cheap-o antenna. Your very right about Buckeye cable, with programing being different on the MI side of the line VS on the OH side. I used to know someone who lived in Lambertville and Detroit news was really of no use, as this this person lived 10 minutes from the state line. Kind of like those who live in Adrian or Hillsdale, when it comes to active weather, it can be a totally different ballgame up in Ann Arbor or Detroit VS what's going on in Erie, Temperance, or Blissfield.

Thanks. My dad tried an antenna but it didn't work for him. Not sure why. He ended up being able to watch 13 news via the Silk browser on his Fire TV. For ABC network shows, I guess he watches them on a different station, maybe WXYZ.

WTVG's newscasts are available on Roku.

Can you watch all WTVG programming live via this method? No. It is for local newscast content only.

YouTubeTV and the like only carry live programming from FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS affiliates that are from the same DMA in which the zip code associated with the account is registered. That means accounts registered in Monroe County will receive Detroit market programming. Accounts registered in Lenawee County will receive Toledo market programming.
DTE Energy paid $752 million in dividends to its shareholders last fiscal year. Remember that the next time they ask the MPSC to approve rate hikes.
