Also, defining a "black job" as "any job"?
I really for the life of me don't understand why he didn't stick with his "unity" message that he promised before the convention, and even stuck to for the first 20 minutes of his acceptance speech at the RNC, and then, it was like somebody flipped a switch. He gave up on that message after 20 minutes and never returned to it.
And today he was woefully unprepared for what he should have know would be a relatively hostile environment for him. Shouldn't have been that difficult to go in there with a message and use the questions to pivot to it. Instead, the first thing he pivoted to was the southern border - not something that audience was particularly interested in.

Beemer and this is a sincere question I want your opinion as a Trump supporter on… what’s with all the unforced strategic mistakes lately?

C'mon, man... You really, for your life, don't understand why Thump - or any politician, for that matter - doesn't make good on their promises?bmw wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 7:32 pmI really for the life of me don't understand why he didn't stick with his "unity" message that he promised before the convention, and even stuck to for the first 20 minutes of his acceptance speech at the RNC, and then, it was like somebody flipped a switch. OK... who's at your keyboard?
Someone actually thinks that the epitome of divisiveness suddenly sees the light, says they are all about unity now, and that person believes this near carcass' words?
What IS it about this divider that makes people throw their own logic and intelligence out the window in order to believe?

As a Republican candidate, and third-time one at that, I'd think you'd agree that it is shocking that he wasn't prepared for hostile media.bmw wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 8:30 pmThe author is correct in that Rachel Scott wanted more than anything her "pound of flesh." One of the black conservative commentators on a CNN panel was deeply offended by his questioning her race and said whoever told him to do this event needs to be fired… ya think?

His campaign is so obviously shooting from the hip. Stuff like this and JD Vance being a horrid pick is understood by even most lay people.

I've thought about that very question. And my theory is that Trump's motivation to win isn't what it was before Biden stepped aside. The only (or at least, main) reason Trump decided to run again was because he wanted a rematch against Biden, and to avenge what he thought was him getting screwed in 2020. But now he's not getting that rematch. He's up against a candidate who didn't get there through traditional means, and frankly I think he's a bit shell-shocked by her rapid, and I mean, RAPID rise to fame.
Re: WSJ: Trump Attacks Harris’s Identity, Saying He Didn’t Know She Was Black
As someone who genuinely believes Trump will run the country better than will Harris, I'm frustrated watching what are mostly amateur errors. MCRF is right - he's shooting from the hip. And that worked for him in 2016. But the political landscape has changed since then, and Trump hasn't adequately adjusted.Honeyman wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 8:52 pmAppreciate you admitting the obvious, beemer. Mean that sincerely. I'm far from counting Trump out yet though. The Middle East is approaching powder keg status, and if things get stupid over there, this race could change in a hurry.

Trump will win. Bookmark this. Democratic voters have this thing about posting memes and snarky posts, but somehow always forget to vote. Or play purity politics. Trump will win and they'll carry on online.

I honestly believes this race is 50-50 now and no one is guaranteed anything. But the thing that has me most concerned is a terrorist attack. Wrong or right, the majority of voters like Republicans on foreign policy. The terror levels aren't a thing since GWB, but I think the US is complacent even in light of several warnings. Russia wants their man in office.

As bad as today was for Trump, Kamala Harris won't wander into even remotely hostile territory between now and the election.
Re: WSJ: Trump Attacks Harris’s Identity, Saying He Didn’t Know She Was Black
I think the same thing except I really think he wants in to pardon himself. He could even do that and just resign not caring after that.bmw wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 9:49 pmI've thought about that very question. But if he keeps this up he’s gonna get crushed.
Re: WSJ: Trump Attacks Harris’s Identity, Saying He Didn’t Know She Was Black
That’s true. Remotely hostile territory is ok if you can handle it or make your case and get a fair hearing. Trump clearly can’t… she’s smart enough not to try. FOX would hardly be fair to her if she went on there. It would just be their opportunity to help tear her down. What’s the point of that? This panel did have Harris Faulkner on it so it wasn’t THAT unfriendly by the way… instead of attacking the ABC person all he had to do was rattle off a list of accomplishments or what he wants to do in a second term. What good is walking into hostile territory if they hand you a stick of dynamite and you stick it in your mouth like a dog with a stick and wait for it to blow up?
