Trump Jury Selection

Post by Taco » Mon Apr 15, 2024 5:43 pm

It was interesting that day one of jury selection, 50 prospective jurors were dismissed when asked if they could be fair and impartial. In this instance, I could not meet that criteria. I loathe the man. They're also asking what news you watch and or read. I also hear the trial is expected to last at least 6 weeks. I hope the jurors are being compensated fairly for lost wages and cover their food and motel stay.

Woe to you, oh earth and sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty-six

Jurors make $40 a day in New York. Typically, employers make up the difference. If they are sequestered, that is a court cost.

A few years ago I was called for jury duty. At that time, The court was paying $20/day. As part of our collective agreement, the employer was requred to make up the difference between our jury pay and our regular wages.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

Honestly, who in their right mind would want to sit on that jury? We haven't had a criminal case this high profile since the OJ Simpson case. Everyone on that jury will have celebrity status whether they want it or not.

Also, how do you find 12 New Yorkers who have no opinion either way of Donald Trump?

I don't see how you can find 12 Americans who have no opinion on Trump.

They have now seated the 12, have 1 alternate and need five more to get this circus started.

Yes the jury will have names everyone knows. The smart ones will parlay their notoriety into book deals, the speaker circuit, etc. Become a millionaire. Maybe run for office somewhere.

I've heard that discussed by others. I suspect it will end up being true, and for me anyways, that prospect raises serious questions about how truly "impartial" that jury can possibly be.

Why do you think it will be any more unfair than any other jury trial. At least Trump isn't a person of color.

In a story I read yesterday extra measures to protect the jury members names are being taken so they are not threatened by MAGA. The jury argument is being raised for the argument if he is found guilty. He bitched on Truth Social that he should be entitled to unlimited strikes against proposed jury members. His ego knows no bounds.

I share your concern that some MAGA creeps might have finagled their way on to the jury which may result in justice not being served.
