Possible? It has been proven. It’s not the contractor, it’s the Chinese manufacturers. The stories are available at legit news sites. The question that was out there was, how are they going to collect the data? I think we now know the answer.

I think it's nothing short of brilliant that the PRC is sending up balloons that cost all of fifty bucks or so to poke the bear and get us to shoot off half-million dollar missiles to knock them down. They played us so well, send up one balloon with a thus far an unidentifiable payload and then start launching those AliExpress bargain basement bags with boxes of discontinued iPhone parts hanging off a rope. Best part is the right can't wait to let fly the most caveman retaliation time and time again.

Sounds like the unholy trinity of aliens-Russia-China is underway.

President Biden said Thursday that three flying objects shot down after the U.S. military downed a suspected Chinese spy balloon earlier this month did not appear related to Beijing's surveillance balloon program.

One of the balloons that was shot down over the Yukon last week belonged to a ham radio club in Illinois. The Northern Illinois Bottlecap Balloon Brigade was tracking it with GPS and transmitting it's position via amateur radio's automatic packet reporting system. This balloon had already circled the globe 7 times before it's untimely demise.

I'm sorry, is there a point you're trying to make? That Biden is shooting down too much stuff or not enough?

You warn us not to confuse assholery with depression. Apparently you're a walking example of both.

Didn’t we have a whole bunch of CONS clamoring for the balloon(s) to be shot down? Did they scramble talking points?

My gut feeling is these things have been flying around for years. Weather balloons. Spy balloons. Hobbyist balloons. Our military has known about them. Other countries military has known about them. Flyovers were so commonplace that NORAD was just shrugging them off ... until the right person noticed.

So let me see if I understand correctly. We let a gigantic Chinese spy balloon - something we apparently knew exactly what it was early on - cross the entire USA on a multi-day journey. Later, we start shooting down much smaller balloons on the spot - at least one of which was seemingly LEGALLY in the air. Does any of this make sense to anybody?

This whole idea that the left has that the Biden admin knows exactly what it is doing here is utter rubbish as I think the admin made the wrong call on each and every balloon. The Chinese spy balloon should have been shot down over Alaska, and more due diligence should have been used in handling the other 3, much smaller balloons. I mean, Biden has already claimed that the 3 small ones aren't tied to China in any way - so why did he shoot them all down?

Even the cost of downing an airborne object aside, should we be shooting down things that are legally where they are? What gives the government the right to shoot down, for example, a hobbyist balloon that is following all of the rules and regulations and thus is flying legally?
