Election Process/Concerns

Post by Taco » Tue Nov 08, 2022 5:11 pm

This has been something that has always troubled me in regards to the election process. The fact that all states have different approaches instead of a standard and uniform process. What I mean is that some states are winner take all, some divvy up the delegates based on the votes, run-offs if nobody in a race hits 50%, some states have early voting as some do not, some have any reason absentee voting and some don't, etc. Seems to me it would be easy for errors and complications to occur. I would also prefer just using a popular vote instead of the convoluted electoral college. What do you guys think?

Woe to you, oh earth and sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty-six

Ask us in 2024 about the electoral college. Personally I think it’s antiquated and anti-competitive and makes lots of votes meaningless in red and blue states potentially depressing turnout. It also causes the focus to be on half a dozen swing states when criss crossing the country trying to get votes is what would happen in a national race.

If I’m not mistaken the constitution leaves the administration of elections in the hands of the states. So sure uniform standards would be great but we are a country analogous to the European Union. Each state is essentially a mini-country.
