Oprah may well have tanked Oz being elected

Post by Lester The Nightfly » Fri Nov 04, 2022 1:06 am

All it took was 37 words:

“I said it was up to the citizens of Pennsylvania and of course, but I will tell you all this, if I lived in Pennsylvania, I would have already cast my vote for John Fetterman for many reasons”

Laugh all you want but Winfrey still carries a lot of influence in many communities. It particularly stings considering Winfrey is largely responsible for Oz's television career. As close as the race is, her comment damn well might have cost Oz the race. If Oprah burns you, may God have mercy on your soul in terms of public perception. Remember, when she was still doing her show there were around 13 or 14 million viewers watching EVERY DAY. You might say that was then and this is now but don't think for a nanosecond there's not a news org on the planet that wouldn't kill for an interview with the likelihood she'd repeat her statement. Even the slappy's at FOX.

She should have said something sooner. Pennsylvania has plenty of GOP voters who vote by mail in rural areas.
They/them, non-binary and proud.

Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Winbag has been off the air for 11 years. She ranks somewhere above the Spotted Owl Society now.

Fetterman will be Dukakis'ed by his liberal stances.
Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

This is the type of post I truly love about this site. Name calling, ad hominem attacks with no backup and a silly closing phrase. Dukakis lost because he was a very poor campaigner, not because of his "liberal stances". Fetterman may lose due to the lack of transparency about his health. but you can't tell me Oz is actually beating him at the stump.

Oprah will always have at least some pull with women, particularly those who were around during her TV show. Incidentally women 40+ are one of the biggest voting blocks. I can see her endorsement influencing women to think why is she not supporting her boy Oz. That's how I believe it will be most influentially read. Still, while a marginal impact, might not need much more than that.

Particularly if the race is as close as advertised.

You forgot Willie Horton.
49% of the public has negative or no opinion of her. She no longer has her daily show, and too much time has lapsed, she doesn't have that much pull.

Nope didn't forget, part of the poor job he did campaigning, and the piss poor answer about his wife getting killed.

And again, no backup, no reference. I'm reading about Oprah's Q score, and that would lead me to believe she might have some influence..
