So basically Georgia's Senate race is between TWO men who have personal/family problems
Everyone I know that's been divorced with kids has been through some difficult custody issues. But let's talk about men with personal family problems.

Newt Gingrich was having an extra marital affair and lied about it while he was trying to impeach Bill Clinton for having an extra marital affair and lying about it.

A Texas congressman was having an affair with the wife of a ISIS leader while serving in Congress.

STFU
I'm looking for a word.

It describes something I see frequently here on Buzzboard. When someone brings up as a defense something that has nothing to do with the current discussion.

I cordially exited a discussion in another forum because the individual did this. Said something totally irrelevant as a defense of their point of view.

There's a word that describes the kind of reply that makes you go:
"Huh? What does that have to do with anything?".

I first learned the word here on Buzzboard a few months ago. Should of wrote it down.
What is that word?
Deflection. It could also be a red herring. Both involve changing the subject albeit for slightly different reasons.

Hopefully you were not attempting to refer to the post you quoted as being involved in this… because that’s not an example at all.

Actually the term I was looking for is "straw man argument". Took me a bit to remember it. A type of rebuttal that's fairly prevalent here on Buzzboard.

The famous "straw man" or "hollow man" argument is prevalent on the BBoard. But what is it?
While you can't always trust Wikipedia, this description is pretty good where someone wrote:A straw man (sometimes written as strawman) is a form of argument and an informal fallacy of having the impression of refuting an argument, whereas the real subject of the argument was not addressed or refuted, but instead replaced with a false one
For example:
Bob - "Taking a bath regularly is beneficial".
Sherri - "But really hot water could burn your skin."

Sherri is attacking the statement that WASN'T made - "Taking a REALLY HOT bath is beneficial." Bob might believe his statement, which is true (who wants to hang with non-bathers) to be false when Sherri's statement doesn't refute Bob's.

Now. let's discuss the alleged "straw man" contention about my post.

And my response contends (rather poorly, I agree) that Rev. Warnock's family problems are somewhat typical and then focused on other (and I'll admit it Republicans) whom I thought had true family problems. No true straw men were meant to be involved, as my rather vague point was "Herschel Walker has true problems, Rafael Warnock is just an everyday guy" did not get put across.

While I did a pretty piss poor job of posting, I disagree with your "straw man" contention.

What you wrote was not a straw man. It’s akin to Bryce calling Democrats Socialists or Marxists. It isn’t the case.
