Initial reports are yet to be published. Ten dollars to a doughnut, the perp had mental health or other issues. No one ever want's to confront that eight hundred pound gorilla. It's the guns.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Seriously. There are hundreds of thousands of guns. Only a handful of whack-jobs. Doesn't it make more sense to concentrate on the whack-jobs?

Why does an 18 year old need an AR-15?
I've answered this question a couple of times. Why wont you answer mine?

Here's another if you would care to take a stab at it. What does a hospital and a school have in common?

Gun free zone. No one allowed to carry a firearm.

BINGO! We have a winner. It would seem designating a gun free zone is about as effective as "universal" background checks would be.

How do you know that? They are 2 completely different things. Well over 70% OF REPUBLICANS are in favor of universal background checks. Why not at least start there?

We agree.
A "Gun Free Zone" sign may as well say "No One Will Be Shooting Back".

Like in the example bmw gave that started this thread, pro-gun advocates need to spread the word far and wide when someone stops a nefarious individual from doing harm.

Instead of giving $200 million to politicians, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (which actually gives politicians more than the NRA does) should make weekly infomercials talking this sort of thing up.
Just may be a tad bit more effective.

Then 70 percent of Republicans are dumb shits. Know? I know that a background check would have done absolutely nothing to keep either one of the last two mass shooting incidents from happening. Two, do you really think criminals, the mentally unstable and convicted felons are going to have a background check done prior to purchasing a weapon? No? Then I guess they aren't "universal" are they?

The piece of shit in Uvalde bought his guns the first day he could, on his 18th birthday before he slaughtered those poor kids. The mother fucker in Tulsa bought his THE SAME DAY he killed 4 people yesterday.

But Bryce knows a background check wouldn't have prevented the deaths. Shit, the paperwork and waiting period alone would have saved those poor people.

Ummm, the last four purchases I've made, on firearms that background checks are required right now, took less than an hour from start to finish. What waiting period are you referring to?

One thing I think we can agree upon is to raise the minimum age to purchase any firearm to 21. If we as a society don't trust an 18-year-old to purchase a six pack of beer, it seems reasonable to not allow them to purchase firearms either. I would also support looking at red flag laws within certain limits to combat mental health issues. Both of those measures, at least on the surface, may have stopped the shooting in Texas.
