Elon Musk offers to buy Twitter for $41 billion

Post by bmw » Thu Apr 14, 2022 9:26 am

He wants to buy the company and take it private. Current market cap is around $36 billion.

I'm fully in favor of this deal happening. This would make Twitter the first mainstream "Big Tech" company that actually promotes free speech.

Not just the beta male voices like the Palmer report or Scott Dworkin, to name a few...

Elon Musk is a douche bag, and I would not at all trust him to run Twitter properly.

For avoidance of doubt, I'm not a fan of how it is run at present, either.

+1

He’s known for buying off people and companies critical of him.

I trust him as far as I could throw him

He'd run it a fuck of a lot better than it's being run now. It's a left wing cesspool.

I gathered from his statements today made at some conference in Canada that he'd allow all legal speech. Basically, if it isn't against the law, it would be allowed.

Twitter is one of the best platforms we have right now. Elon already has one rich empire; he doesn't need another. This is why we have anti trust laws.
They/them, non-binary and proud.

Anti-trust laws do not apply to two companies with proposed common ownership that are in completely different industries.

Different people, of course, can have different opinions as to where the line is drawn between legal versus non-legal.

I do disagree with Twitter's practice of serving as an arbiter of fact with regard to comments made by politicians, government officials and celebrities. That should not be the platform's function.
