This is likely true throughout the country. It is just surprising seeing a democratic governor being honest about covid and not fear-mongering.

Some covid honesty from NY governor
Some covid honesty from NY governor

The problem for hospitals is that even though the individual was admitted for other than covid reasons, if they are found to have covid, they have to be handled and treated with the covid protocol that is in place. That puts an extra strain on resources.Matt wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 7:29 amhttps://www.foxnews.com/health/almost-h ... e-covid-19

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

This is true, but the fact that hospitalization and death counts include people that also had covid artificially inflates numbers and plays into continuing fear in regards to covid.Bryce wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 8:24 amThe problem for hospitals is that even though the individual was admitted for other than covid reasons, if they are found to have covid, they have to be handled and treated with the covid protocol that is in place. 1/2 seems pretty high. While the specific group of people admitted to a hospital for non-Covid reasons isn't exactly a representative sample taken from the entire US population, I would think that the percentage of those people infected with Covid would at least kind of closely mirror the percentage within the general population. And there's no way that 1/2 of all Americans (or even 1/2 of the people who live in the region of that NY hospital) currently have Covid.
As to the broader point of "from Covid" vs "with Covid," it does beg the question how accurate our cumulative death toll really is.
