Michigan Senate paid $373K in 20 secret severance deals

Where's is the outrage?

The same pack of toothless hypocrites who are trying to attack Whitmer for the severance package with her DHHS director have also had plenty of severance packages that they refuse to disclose.

That makes the issue one big fat political nothing Burger. The solution is transparency for the legislature and the governor's office.
LANSING — The Michigan Senate says it's handed out $372,614 in severance pay through 20 secret separation agreements with departing employees over the last five years, revealing that Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's administration isn't the only branch of state government engaging in the practice.

In response to requests from The Detroit News, the Republican-controlled state Senate and House revealed Tuesday afternoon their total numbers of separation dealssince March 3, 2016. But the two chambers didn't provide other details about the arrangements, including the identities of the individuals who received the payouts or whether they included confidentiality restrictions.

However, one of the Senate agreements reviewed by The Detroit News included a non-disparagement clause that limited the former worker's ability to talk about the individual's employment and a provision that required the deal be kept secret.

By comparison, the House says it's reached only one separation agreement worth $25,000 over the last five years.

In separate disclosures to liberal watchdog group Progress Michigan, the House revealed three agreements worth $59,500 over the last seven years, and the Senate disclosed 30 agreements worth $632,144 over that time.

The first question would be: Did any of those folks resign, or were they terminated?

No, the first question is why is he reposting what we've already discussed, a thread HE started in the correct forum: https://www.mibuzzboard.com/phpBB3/view ... 39&t=57110

that was a different case but thank you for proving the point that you don't seem to be too concerned about Republicans handing out taxpayer money without accountability.

No, it is the same, you dishonest fuck. Link your articles - the one you posted was from 3/9. This amount is a subset of the larger amount. The average is under $20,000, not $155,000 for one employee that you claimed suck.

There were claims that exceeded $70,000. So no accountability for republicans?

Some time ago, I read an article ranking state governments from best to worst. 1 was the worst and 50 was the best, if I recall. It seems Michigan rated as one of the worst run state governments. Republican state governments appear to be quite scandalous in recent years.

In Alabama, I believe the once speaker of the house ended up going to prison, In Ohio Republican members of the legislature are under investigation for racketeering. If I recall, I think Mississippi was rated the worst run state government. Ah... but the poor souls who cast ballots still fail to see whom is really driving the screws to them.

Michigan is certainly one of the least transparent state governments in this country, certainly north of the Mason Dixon line.

The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

It seems so, The state of Georgia's government, in some regards mirrors something out of an interior African Country, in terms corruption, nepotism, and secrecy.
