I'm not one to complain about moderators because I think that is up to the debaters to deal with, but I will say that the second-to-last question to Pence about what would be his role if Trump refuses to peacefully concede power was one of the most absurd, ridiculous questions I've ever heard asked at a Presidential debate. Not only does it constitute a hypothetical question, but it was one not even rooted in fact. The underlying assumptions were not only that Trump loses, but that after doing so, he engages in violence and that Pence has a role in dealing with such violence.

Pence could certainly stand up and say something. Trump will not be going quietly. In fact the Republicans are talking about directly appointing electors in 6 swing states that have Republican legislatures. If Biden wins by several points and they overrule the voters even if it’s constitutional it will be a very bad look. The Democratic governors in those states would then appoint their own slates and we would have a constitutional crisis. That’s not an absurd thought. Trumps answer last week was basically “If I lose it’s because they cheated because I don’t lose”. They will stop at nothing to keep this going.

People are very worried about Trump not gracefully conceding in what is looking more and more like a Biden landslide.

There's a big difference between "gracefully conceding" and "peacefully conceding." It was a loaded question to the extent it implied Trump would engage in outright violence if he lost, and I know she used the phrase "peaceful transition of power" at least 3 or 4 times in the lead-up. That's my gripe.

Overall debate performance, I give slight edge to Pence. He got the better of Harris on substance and I think he got under her skin a few times. Pence remained unrattled throughout.

For those who wagered 2:00 or under on how long the fly set up shop atop the Vice-President of the United States of America's dome, I regret to inform you The Grey Lady of newspapers containing 'all the news that's fit to print', our nation's paper of record, the esteemed New York Times reports the fly lodged itself on its perch for two minutes, twenty one seconds. Sorry, but the over took the win this evening.

Now please, carry on with your insightful discussions. Thank you.

I didn't notice it at all while watching, but saw speculation about it afterwards. Did it really look as bad on live TV as what I'm seeing in some screenshots? I would think I would have noticed something like that.

Then right after the fly, what was that sneeze or dog-barking like sound I hear at least 5 times coming presumably from the audience?
Maybe a former Astro has got a new gig.

Astro shaming is always appreciated. Well done.

And tonight, they're going to take over the world.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

I declare the fly the winner. It found the biggest, juiciest piece of shit in the room and owned it. Talk about taking charge! Fly 2024
What's the buzz?
