+1!!!!!!!
I used Uber a few weeks ago on the way to the airport. I ordered the Uber for 3AM. When I checked my digital device at 3AM, I had 2 notifications and when I swiped to see what they were, there wasn't a message. So I kept messing with my device I couldn't find it. So I was looking out my window and couldn't see anyone. I was going to call customer service but the number I found on the web did nothing! So i started looking for an Uber, and nothing would load. I then went to Lyft and couldn't find anything either. I tried calling cab companies and could not get a cab! It took me an hour and a half to finally get an Uber. This fatty came sliding up to my front door at 4:30 AM and I had a flight leaving at 6AM. I could tell that this ride was going to take longer than advertised because their immense girth was going to weigh down my ride. Undaunted, I get into the ride and direct her to go! She takes the long route through my subdivision! I am trying to get her damn attention, but she had her "urban music" playing too loud to hear my commands. I decided it was fruitless and let the moron do what she wanted. So I asked politely that she speed up because her and her company weren't there when I requested at 3AM. After about 5 minutes of discussion, she put her foot to the floor and we were flying. We got to DTW with just minutes to spare. She then had the audacity to send me a message asking for a rating and tip. How could I in good conscience give this woman a tip when her large frame couldn't get moving until an hour and a half later than I requested?
I have to agree. Uber is a great metaphor for progressivism. It doesn't work the way its advertised, it causes problems for business, and the people working in it are nothing but morons!
This is the best post I've read here for years.
First, I think Bryce was using the term uber in it's common context as an adverb and adjective , as in
Over or
Beyond.
Second, generally speaking drivers who work on behalf of Uber (THE RIDE SHARE COMPANY) also drive in conjunction with Lyft so essentially you're tapping into the same pool of drivers regardless of which brand service you're using. If one ain't answering your call, it's unlikely the other will either.
Third, and most delicious is you do realize you as as rider are being rated as well. When you give your "fatty" driver a healthy serving of shit and a poor rating,
you are being evaluated as a customer too. It sure sounds like you've worked your way into the undesirable customer category. Your crap attitude may have earned yourself the status of being lucky if both ride share companies bother to send so much as a donkey cart next time you need a ride in the dead of the night. Congratulations asshole, you won a fitting prize for your pissy behavior toward folks just trying to keep things moving and working in these unusual and stressful times. You showed 'em.
