What Are Chicago Police Using-CB Walkie Talkies?

Post by Ben Zonia » Mon Jun 01, 2020 5:34 pm

Is this the level of sophistication of Chicago Police communications? Hearing music on the police radio channels? I thought they had digital access codes and digitally encoded communications. Cell phones, even portable landline phones have this. Is this an inside job? Well, it is Chicago.

The interference is coming from business radios programmed to the Chicago frequencies. Not CB's. When you know the proper frequencies and codes, police channels can be programmed to transmit on any frequencies within the range of the business radio. Many volunteer fire fighters that have to buy their own radios go this route. All that info is available online:

Chicago does have some tactical and surveillance frequencies that people cannot hear with any scanner or online application. But the majority of their communications are "in the clear".

The reference to CB Radios was metaphorical. It was in reference to the apparent lack of sophistication, resulting in easily jammed communications. Maybe that's a factor in Chicago's high crime and murder rate, despite being a "Socialist Utopia" which bans guns for self defense.ew

Chicago has become "the city that doesn't work".

Their new motto is "I Won't".
